Buffalo Ranch Owner is Dead
Albert E. Simmons, 37, Succumbs to Short Illness
Albert Edward Simmons, 37 died at the Sheridan County Memorial hospital on Monday night after a short illness.
Mr. Simmons, who was single, was born in Buffalo, Oct. 18, 1897, and has lived there all his life. He has been living on his ranch south of Buffalo.
Besides his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar H. Simmons of Buffalo, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Ed L. Taylor, of Sheridan; Mrs. Charles W. Scott of Miner, Mont., and Miss Stell Simmons of Buffalo; two brothers, Clarence E. Simmons and George Simmons of Buffalo.
The body will be taken to Buffalo on Wednesday by the Champion Funeral Home.

Florence Viola Simmons
Florence Viola Simmons, 88, died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at Westview Health Care Center.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joseph Keys officiating. Interment is in Willow Grove Cemetery, Buffalo.
Arrangements are with Ferries Funeral Home.
Mrs. Simmons was born Sept. 19, 1911, in Ansley, Neb., to Hiram Abraham Mitchel and Clara Julia Bramer Mitchel.
She moved with her parents to Kaycee in 1918. She attended Johnson County High School in Buffalo, and graduated in 1929 from Campbell County High School in Gillette, where she took a year of Normal Training.
She taught school before marriage to George W. Simmons June 28, 1932, in Spokane, Wash. She and George lived on a ranch south of Buffalo where he and his family raised Hereford cattle.
During World War II, they moved to Spokane, Wash. In 1946, they returned to Wyoming and bought a ranch near Big Horn, where again they raised registered Herefords. In the late 1940s, they were instrumental in the establishment of the Simmonaires square dance and round dance club.
They moved to Sheridan in 1951 when George
became a life insurance agent. She attended a local business college and was
trained in secretarial skills. She was employed as a secretary and stenographer
by the Sheridan County Department of Public Welfare from 1956 to 1966; she was
the secretary for the Sheridan County Superintendent of Schools, from December
1966 until October 1970, when the superintendent retired and the office closed.
Florence was then employed in the
administration office for Sheridan County School District No. 2, working for the
assistant superintendent from October 1970 until her retirement in 1979.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, National Retired Teachers Association, Friendship Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Sahida Temple, Daughters of the Nile, and Chapter AB, P.E.O.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George, in 1981; a sister, Helen Mae Self, Spokane; a brother, Clarence of Spokane; and a grandson, Richard A. Rader Jr., Sheridan. Survivors include a son, Col. James A. Simmons (retired), O'Fallon, Ill.; a daughter, Karen Rader, Sheridan; a brother, Donald H. Mitchel, Spokane; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church.
