Take Rt. 50 East out of Parkersburg for about 9 miles. Turn right at the Murphytown/Montgomery Hill exit. (This will be the 2nd Murphytown exit.). Travel on Murphytown Road for about 1 mile to Hopps Country Store. The Cemetery is the very next right past the store across the road from a brick and gold split level house. The road to the cemetery goes up over the hill past a house. The cemetery is fenced in at the top of the hill. The gates are usually open during the day. 

The cemetery was started in the early 1800’s by the Farson Family of Murphytown, years later the property changed hands and was owned by the Murphy family who later donated the cemetery property to the Murphytown United Methodist Church. 

The Church maintains the cemetery now. It is still active, although not used a lot, and well maintained. The upper section contains the newer burials, while the lower section contains the oldest burials. Some of the stones in the older section are in poor condition due to weather wear. Complete accuracy cannot be guaranteed, please verify with other records. This transcription was done on Apr 26, 2003 from a physical examination of the stones present, when I visited the cemetery.
