Almost 150 years of history of Northeastern Wetzel County is for sale in the form of a DVD Slideshow and the profit from the sale of the of the DVD's will be returned to the community.  At the Dec 17, 2007 meeting of Hundred City Council Recorder Sherry Hayes and Councilman Philip Lightner announced that the DVD project Hundred Area Past and Present Slide Show which includes Hundred, Littleton and Burton is completed.

The DVD presents over 300 pictorial images of the area beginning in the late 1800's, continuing through the railroad and gas boom era and ending with the modern day Hundred area.

The sale of the DVD's, which are offered for $15.00 each, will be used to fund Christmas projects for the community.  Lightner, also a member of the Hundred PRIDE group which has been instrumental in developing such projects as Rail to Trails, hopes people will purchase the DVD's as Christmas presents or as mementos of Wetzel County.  The pictorial history may be purchased from Hayes at Hundred City Hall (304) 775-5131 or at Jean's Country Florist (304) 775-2632.  All proceeds will benefit the community Christmas programs, such as the parade and visit from Santa with toys and treats which this year welcomed over 70 children to tell Santa their Christmas wishes.

I talked to Sherry Hays this morning and you may also order the DVD's by Mail.  The price is $15.00 plus $2.50 for shipping and handling.
Order from:

Town of Hundred Christmas Fund
PO Box 1100
Hundred, WV  26575

I received mine Saturday, 22 Dec 2007 and reviewed it.  A lot of time and effort was put into making this DVD Slideshow which can be played on your home entertainment center or computer.  It has pictures pre 1900 through the present time.  It is broken down into three different slideshows of Hundred, Littleton and Burton.  It is well worth the $17.50 to have it shipped to you if you have an interest in that part of the county or Wetzel County in general.  Bill Cunningham
