WETZEL COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY
The Wetzel County Genealogical Society was organized in April of 1979 and was governed by the Constitution of the Wetzel County Humanities Council and Association until September, 1980.
The purpose of the Wetzel County Genealogical Society is to collect, preserve and publish genealogical, biographic and historical matter and to establish and maintain a library of genealogical material. These materials are stored in the New Martinsville Public Library and are open for the public to use.
The Society meets on the 4th Monday of each month at the New Martinsville Public Library and the meetings are open to the public. You may join the Wetzel County Genealogy Society for $10.00 per year. The new year starts on July 1 and runs through June 30th. There are four quarterly Newsletters published yearly. To join the society, send check or money order to WCGS at the address listed below.
The Wetzel County Genealogical Society has printed Census records, Wetzel County obituaries, Tyler County marriages , reprinted the 1901 History of Wetzel County, History of Wetzel County West Virginia and many other sources of information.
