John Queen
John Queen, 61, of Route 2, French Creek, departed this life peacefully at his
home on Thursday, April 28, 2005, under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice
following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born April 15, 1944, in Rock Cave, a son of the late Herman and Wanna
Riffle Queen.
On July 8, 1967, he married Beda Campbell Queen, who preceded him in death on
Feb. 15, 2001.
On Aug. 23, 2002, he married Shirley Bennett Queen, who survives.
He is also survived by one son, Shawn Michael Queen of Kings Mountain, N.C.; one
stepson, Scott Crites of Buckhannon; one stepdaughter, Shawna Minervini and
husband, Joe, of Waxhaw, N.C.; and one stepgranddaughter, Allison Crites of
Buckhannon.
He is also survived by one brother, Howard Queen and wife, Marsha, of Rock Cave;
and three sisters, Gnellia Jeffers of French Creek, Dorothy Queen of New
Philadelphia, Ohio, and Dreama Mullins of Morgantown.
John was a graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School, DeVry Institute of
Electronics and the U.S. Army Avionics School.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from July 1965 to July 1967. During
the Vietnam conflict, he served his country as an avionics technician, servicing
helicopter radio and guidance systems.
He was a member of the Rock Cave Lodge where he had served as treasurer for
several years.
John was employed by the West Virginia Division of Highways for 30 years in
various capacities including chief inspector of interstate construction, design
technician, project supervisor and utility supervisor. He retired in August
2003. Following his retirement from the DOH, John was employed by Horner
Brothers Engineering until he became ill in August 2004.
John loved hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. He enjoyed going to the
beach, deep-sea fishing and relaxing at his second home in Ocean Isle, N.C.
He was also an antique car enthusiast. He was the proud owner of a 1957 Chevy,
two-door Bel-Air, and had recently purchased a 1957 Chevy pickup truck, which is
still in the process of restoration.
John was dearly loved by his wife, son, brothers and sisters and also by his
extended family of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, who will
greatly miss their “Uncle John.”
Friends will be received at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel on Sunday
from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday
at 2 p.m. at the funeral chapel with Pastor David Jessie and Pastor Holly J.
Hoover officiating. The Buckhannon VFW Post 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post 7
American Legion and the DAV Chapters 5 and 36 will present the American flag. At
the request of the deceased, the body will be cremated and laid to rest at a
later date at the Rock Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests
that donations be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice, Amalia Drive, Buckhannon,
W.Va. 26201. The Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel is in charge of the

Ovid Q. Queen
The Rev. Ovid Quay Queen, 92, of Spruce Fork, Upshur County, died Wednesday,
Aug. 10, 2005, at his home.
He was born Oct. 22, 1912, a son of the late Earnest Meade Queen and Grace
Kathryn Fultz Queen.
On Sept. 3, 1930, he married Ruth Sutton Queen, who preceded him in death Sept.
9, 1997.
In addition to his parents and spouse, he was preceded in death by one brother,
Earnest Kenneth Queen; two sisters, Dorothy Queen Powers and Ruth Queen Francis;
and one grandson.
Surviving are two daughters, Doris Jean Arnovitz (Sam, deceased) of Cleveland,
Ohio, and Eva Kathryn Howes and Dayton Howes of West Virginia; and one son,
Edwin Meade Queen and Wilma Queen of West Virginia. Also surviving are 10
grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Queen was a Christian by faith and a minister of the gospel, as well as
a farmer. He was a member of Reger Chapel United Methodist Church and served
many years as a Sunday school teacher, superintendent and other offices. He also
belonged to the Brushy Fork Community Club.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturday at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Ogden officiating. Interment
will follow at the Reger Chapel Cemetery. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in

William Queen
William “Bill” Queen, 63, of Durbin, passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at
Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Wallace & Wallace Funeral
Home in Arbovale. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. from the funeral
home. Interment will follow at Wanless Cemetery. Please send online condolences

Eva. C. Quick
Eva Celestine Quick, 86, a resident of Nella’s Nursing Home in Crystal
Springs, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at the nursing home.
She was born March 21, 1919, in Randolph County, a daughter of the late James P.
Burke and Sarah T. Nay Burke.
On April 13, 1941, she was married to Merritt E. Quick, who preceded her in
death Aug. 8, 2000.
Surviving are one daughter, Janet L. Klepper of Missouri; three sons, Edward E.
Quick of Cleveland, England, James W. “Willy” and wife, Chris Quick, and
John L. and wife, Sharon Quick, all of Buckhannon; 10 grandchildren and several
great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were one son, Bernard Quick, and one daughter,
Patricia C. Quick.
She was a homemaker and for many years was a cook at Sand Run and Excelsior
elementary schools. She was a charter member of Nay Chapel United Methodist
Church.
Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Tuesday from 10 a.m.
to 11 a.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Jerry Heater will officiate and interment
will follow in Mt. Union Church Cemetery near Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair
Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. From 5 Dec 2005.
Harley H. Quinn
Harley H. “John” Quinn, 68, of Hacker Valley, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005,
at Buckhannon.
Visitation was Saturday at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral services were
Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Chris Cosner officiating. Interment
followed at Hodam Creek Cemetery. Dodd & Reed Funeral Home services.
