Ernestine L. Rice
Ernestine L. Rice, 81, of 24 Carol St., Buckhannon, died Monday, April 8, 1002, in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.
Mrs. Rice was born May 16, 1920, in Lewis County, a daughter of the late Henry Dyre and Lucy Riffe Gum.
On April 15, 1955, she married Esker Wayne Rice, who preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 1990.
Surviving are one daughter, Patty Frisby, Buckhannon; one sister, Elanora Braden, Akron, Ohio; two granddaughters, Sandi Peck, Buckhannon, and Kathy Sims, Florence, S.C.; two grandsons, Scott Jack and Patrick Jack, both of Buckhannon; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
Mrs. Rice was a homemaker. She attended Tennerton United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ellis Conley officiating. Interment will follow in Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon. From 10 Apr 2002.

Shane T. Rice
Shane Tyler Rice, 12 days old, of Sharpless Street, Keyser, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at the Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa.
He was born Sept. 12, 2002, at Petersburg, a son of Bryant Mitchell Rice and Lanette M. Oxier of Keyser.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James Oxier and his paternal grandfather, Fred W. Rice.
Surviving in addition to his parents are, two brothers, Brice Mongold and Justin Rice, both of Keyser; maternal grandparents, George and Lanette Arbogast of Elkins; maternal great-grandmother, Maudie Oxier of Elkins; paternal grandparents, Maynard and Janet Rotruck of Keyser; three uncles, Roger Rice, Ronnie Rice and Brad Rotruck and wife, Kristin, all of Keyser; one cousin, Bradley Rotruck, as well as a larger number of friends.
Friends may call at Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Hulda D. Riddle
Hulda Delores Wyatt Riddle, 61, of Rock Cave, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.
She was born Feb. 17, 1941, at Kanawha Head, a daughter of the late Robert and Malinda Lear Riley Wyatt.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Riddle.
Also surviving are four sons, Denver Lane of Wild Cat, Floyd Mace of Buckhannon, Jason Lane of Crawford and Henry Leemasters of Rock Cave; four daughters, Malinda Queer of Tiff City, Mo., Goldie Howard of Hartzel, Colo., Virginia McCartney of Crawford, and Christina Posey of Arlington; four brothers, Robert Wyatt of Cleveland, George Wyatt of Wild Cat, Everett Wyatt of Rock Cave, and Lafe Wyatt of Akron, Ohio; two sisters, Jean Wyatt of Warren, Ohio, and Violet Staley of Alexander; two stepdaughters, Annie Lanham of Cherry Fork, and Hulda Wyatt of Kanawha Head; 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, three stepgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and one grandson.
Mrs. Riddle attended the Ingo Full Gospel Church.
Friends will be received at Robert M. Vincent Funeral Home in French Creek Tuesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Wease L. Day officiating. Burial will follow in Bennett Cemetery at Kanawha Head. From 30 Sep 2002.

Arden K. Riggleman, 75, of Mabie, died at 12:15 a.m. today, Jan. 9, 2002, at his residence.

Arden K. Riggleman
Arden Kendall Riggleman, 75, of Mabie, died at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Mr. Riggleman was born Oct. 29, 1926, in Hemlock, a son of the late Ernest H. and Belvia Light Riggleman.
On June 19, 1958, in Oakland, Md., he married Barbara Joan Helmick Riggleman, who survives in Mabie.
Also surviving are two sons, James Lee Riggleman and wife, Denise, and Arden Kendall Riggleman Jr. and wife, Debra, all of Mabie; a daughter, Cheryl Annette Riggleman, Elkins; a sister, Avis Rowan, Clarksburg; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Dorothy Riggleman, Clarksburg; four grandchildren, Marie, Eric, Nick and Alicia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Arnell and Beatrice Riggleman; and a brother-in-law, Ernest Rowan.
Mr. Riggleman attended the schools of Upshur County and was a 1944 graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II and was employed as a coalminer for 45 years having retired from Bentley Coal Co. in 1991. He was a member of Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was a Methodist by faith.

Elvin Swisher Riggleman, 85, of Petersburg, died Saturday, May 25, 2002, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Janet G. Riggleman
Janet Gayle Bailey Riggleman, 65, of Route 1, Beverly, died at 1 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, in Colonial Place in Elkins. She had been in declining health for the past year and considered critical for the past three weeks. Death was attributed to cancer.
Mrs. Riggleman was born July 26, 1936, in New Hope, a daughter of the late Cowgille Bailey and Mary Bailey Bailey.
On Aug. 11, 1961, in Oakland, Md., she married Hayse William Riggleman, who preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 2001.
Surviving are a brother, Carroll D. Bailey and wife, Joy, Raceland, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Riggleman was a graduate of Princeton High School and a 1959 graduate of Concord College. She was a school teacher, having taught home economics at Beverly High School and was the librarian at Elkins Junior High School retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Randolph County Retired Teacher's Association, the West Virginia Retired Teacher's Association, the Beverly Woman's Club and the Beverly United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women of the Church.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Lohr-Barb-Vance Funeral Home today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Saturday, Mrs. Riggleman will be moved to Beverly United Methodist Church, where funeral services will be at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Donald L. Fitzwater officiating. Interment will follow in Beverly Cemetery in Beverly. Robert L. Riggleman
Robert Lee Riggleman, 80, of 515 Davis St., Elkins, died at 3:15 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Riggleman was born June 22, 1921, in Valley Bend, a son of the late Adam and Russie Stalnaker Riggleman.
On Dec. 12, 1942, in Elkins, he married Pauline Scott Riggleman, who survives in Elkins.
Also surviving are a son, Robert Lynn Riggleman, Elkins; two daughters, Paula Epply, Elkins, and Katherine Arbaugh, Dailey; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Lewis "Skip" Riggleman; and a sister, Beula Currence.
Mr. Riggleman was employed as a heavy equipment operator for many years and was employed by the West Virginia Department of Highways for 30 years, where he retired as county superintendent.
Funeral Arrangements: Graveside services will be at Elkins Memorial Gardens Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Walter H. Blough officiating. Interment will follow. Sylvia B. Riggs
Sylvia B. Riggs, 66, a resident of Dailey, where she had made her home with her son, Terry Hosey, passed away Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at 9:05 a.m. at her residence. She had been in her usual health and death was sudden and unexpected.
She was born May 12, 1936, at Dailey, a daughter of the late Elijah and Nora Barb Riggs.
She is survived by her only child a son, Terry Hosey of Dailey; a brother and sister-in-law, Norman Riggs and wife Geraldine, of Mill Creek; one sister-in-law, Freda Riggs of Dailey; one special cousin, Junior Barb of Mill Creek; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death besides her parents were three brothers, Willie, Oliver and Archie Riggs.
She had formerly been employed at Nella's Nursing Home and at Sissie's Restaurant. She also took care of the elderly people for several years in the Dailey community. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the latter Day Saints.
Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home today after 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner Chapel Tuesday at 11 a.m. Bishop Lynn Muhlestein and Elder Virgil Bennett of the Church of the Latter Day Saints will officiate. Gus Alexander Riley, 93, of Morgantown, passed away Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at Morgantown.

Viletta M. Riley
Viletta M. Riley, 64, of McCord Run Road, Ireland, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at her home.
Mrs. Riley was born May 13, 1937, in Kanawha Head, a daughter of the late Ezra J. and Malinda Riley Wyatt.
On Sept. 14, 1969, she married Wilbert Early Riley, who preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 1999.
Surviving are three sons, James Riley, Wilbert Riley and Joseph Riley, all at home; a daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Joe Robinson, at home; four brothers, Everett Wyatt, Walkersville, Robert Wyatt, Cleveland, George Wyatt, Wild Cat, and Lafe Wyatt, Warren, Ohio; three sisters, Violet Staley, Alexander, Jean Mullins, Columbus, Ohio, and Delores Riddle, Walkersville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Willis Wyatt; and a sister, Claudia Wyatt.
Mrs. Riley was a homemaker.

Rachel V. Rippey
Rachel Violet Rippey, 87, of Bismarck, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, in Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.
She was born Feb. 21, 1915, in Bismarck. She was the daughter of the late Millard Cosner and Stella Moreland Cosner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Carl Rippey in 1944. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Eleanor Wykle; one son, Gene Rippey; two sisters, Milla Likens and Beulah Kitzmiller; and two brothers, infant Lorenzo Cosner and Marvin Cosner. She was the last member of her immediate family.
She was a member of the Locust Grove Church of the Brethren. She was employed at the Mt. Storm Lodge for several years and more recently for the Grant County Commission on Aging. She had been a resident of Grant County Nursing Home since May 2000.
Surviving are three sons and spouses, Ralph and Joan Rippey of Delran, N.J., Robert and Marianna Rippey of Vienna, Va., and Wayne and Jane Rippey of Keyser; one daughter and spouse, Linda and Harlan Yokum of Morgantown; one son-in-law, Charles Wykle of Asheville, N.C.; one daughter-in-law, Iris Jean Rippey of Lexington, S.C; one sister-in-law, Annie Evans, Kents Store, Va.; one brother-in-law, Greeley Rippey of Greeley, Colo.; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Nela M. Roberts
Nela Mae "Nan" Roberts, 81, a lifelong resident of Valley Bend community, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, at 12:30 p.m. in Davis Memorial Hospital, where she was admitted earlier in the day. She had been in failing health for the past year.
She was born Aug. 11, 1921, at Mill Creek, a daughter of the late Bert and Bertie Wilkson Roberts.
She is survived by a daughter, Virginia Samples, with whom she had made her home her whole life; three granddaughters, Mrs. Bobbie (Beth) Leary, Mrs. Chris (Jennifer) Kyle, both of Valley Bend, and Mrs. Mike (Karen) Kiziah of Vale, N.C.; five great-grandchildren, Erik and Shane Leary, Amanda Kyle, Tyler and Hannah Kiziah; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers.
She was one of the original homesteaders in the Valley Bend community. She was a graduate of Tygart Valley High School with the class of 1942. She was a member of the Randolph County Senior Center and had formerly attended the Valley Bend United Methodist Church, where she was an active member of the choir. In recent years she was a member of the Faith Baptist Chapel at Beverly.
She was formerly employed at the Kenwood Plant and Scotts Store in Valley Bend. She was also a homemaker and loved gardening, flowers and displaying the American flag. She was well known for decorating her home for each and every holiday. She will long be remembered for starting the Valley Bend Flower Community Fund until becoming ill.
Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel after 6 p.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner Chapel on Sunday at 2 p.m. Rev. Bill Hopkins of Sutton and the Rev. Frank Long, pastor of Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Mill Creek Cemetery at Mill Creek. From 16 and 19 Aug 2002.

George C. Robinson
George C. Robinson, 76, of PO Box 2333, Buckhannon, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at Stonewall Jackson, Weston.
He was born Dec. 9, 1925, in Webster Springs, a son of the late Harley and Hattie Tharpe Robinson.
On Aug. 5, 1955, he married Madeline Champ Robinson, who survives, in Buckhannon.
Also surviving are one son, Thomas Robinson and wife, Sue, Buckhannon; one daughter, Terry Burch and husband, Jack, Tallmansville; one granddaughter, Richana Allman, Buckhannon; and three grandsons, Justin Burch and wife, Ashley, and Nicholas Burch, all of Tallmansville, and Tommy Hayes, Buckhannon.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mazie Bush.
Mr. Robinson was a coal miner for Dex Car Queen Coal Co. He served in the Army during World War II.

Lola Austin Robinson
Lola Mae Austin Robinson, 66, of Valley Furnace community, Route 2, Philippi, died Thursday afternoon, July 11, 2002, at her home. She had been in declining health but her death was unexpected.
She was born Oct. 17, 1935, near the Shiloh community, the daughter of the late Bradford and Ida Myrtle Knight Loar.
On Oct. 10, 1957, she was married to Vincent Garnet Austin, who preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1995. On Dec. 17, 1996, she was married to George W. Robinson, who survives at Valley Furnace community.
Also surviving are two stepsons, Randal Austin, Tucson, Ariz., and William Robinson, Brooklyn, Md.; four stepdaughters, Sheila White, Negreet, La., Sandie Orr, Tucson, Ariz., Terry Labrada and Vickie, both of Baltimore, Md.; several stepgrandchildren and several stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Dorsey Loar, and by one stepdaughter, Liza Cappell.
Mrs. Robinson was a certified nursing assistant and was a member of the Shiloh Church of the Brethren.
Friends may call at the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home in Philippi from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and on Sunday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., when Mrs. Robinson will be moved to the Shiloh Church of the Brethren where funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Garry Clem. Lyonal P. Robinson, 73, of Route 3, Buckhannon, died Friday, Sept. 6, 23002, at his home.
He was born April 14, 1929, at Kanawha Head, a son of the late Marvin P. and Virginia Kincaid Robinson.
He is survived by one brother, Glenn D. Robinson of Route 3, Buckhannon; two sisters, Elsie G. Lewis and husband, Harold, of Buckhannon, and Creola Casto and husband, Bill, of Painsville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Oletia Humphreys and Juanita Crawford.
Mr. Robinson attended the Rock Cave Independent Baptist Church.
Friends will be received Sunday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park. The Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. From 7 Sep 2002.

Mary Bridget Robinson, 81, a resident of Cassity and a patient at Holbrook Nursing Home in Buckhannon for the past two years, passed away Monday evening, June 10, 2002, in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.

William Robinson Sr.
William Ross Robinson Sr., 93, a resident of Hannahsville, and a resident of Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas, departed this life Tuesday morning, May 28, 2002, at the nursing home. He had been in declining health.
He was born Feb. 10, 1909, at St. George, a son of the late Jacob Robinson and Alice Miller Robinson.
On Nov. 16, 1929, he was married to Tillie Ann Snider, who preceded him in death on Dec. 22, 1996.
Surviving are two sons, James Edward Robinson and wife, Phyllis, Centerville, Ohio, and William Ross Robinson Jr. and wife, Cathy, Hannahsville; two daughters, Gladys Moore, Centerville, Ohio, and Virginia Ruth Bohon and husband, Eugene, Hannahsville; one foster daughter, Patricia "Patty" Gower and husband, Don, Canal Fulton, Ohio; one brother, Guy Robinson, Williamson; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, many stepgreat-grandchildren and stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, William Lee Robinson; one brother, Russell Robinson; one half brother, Ernest Miller; five sisters, Flossie Nestor, Lessie Root, Millie Gradstaff, Strada Compton and Lula Shahan; and one son-in-law, Beckham Moore.
He attended the Robinson Hill one room school at St. George. He was a member of the Macedonia Methodist Church at Hannahsville. He was a sawer with Interstate Lumber Co. for many years and retired from Hinchcliff Lumber Co. at Hendricks.
Friends will be received at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Thursday at 1 p.m. Pastor Pat Cassidy will officiate and interment will follow at Limestone Cemetery at St. George. From 29 May 2002.

Mary F. Robles, 89, a recent resident of 318 S. Randolph Ave., Elkins, where she made her home with her daughter, Marianne Robles-Lockett, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at 1:20 p.m. at her residence. She had been in her usual health and death was sudden and unexpected.
At the request of the deceased the remains will be cremated and interment will follow at a later date. The F.E. Runner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. From 16 Oct 2002.

Harold A. Roby
Harold A. Roby, 76, of Route 1, French Creek, Frenchton Road, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He was born April 12, 1926, at French Creek, the son of the late John N. and Minnie Jeffries Roby.
He is survived by seven nephews, six nieces and several great-nephews and great-nieces; one sister-in-law, Freta Roby; and one brother-in-law, Eugene Cutlip.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.
Mr. Roby was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II.

Ida Chloe Roby, 96, of 4 Cleveland Ave., Buckhannon, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, in Serenity Care Home in Buckhannon.
Mrs. Roby was born March 27, 1906, in Vandalia, a daughter of the late Charles Lewis and Lenora Lamb Curtis.
She married Eugene T. Roby, who preceded her in death on July 2, 1993.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, John Curtis, Roy Curtis, William Curtis and Burl Curtis; and one sister, Ouita Curtis Dobbins.
Mrs. Roby was a cook for Arlington School. She attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Arlington.

Frances Elizabeth "Betty" Rockey, 83, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor, and a resident of Reger Avenue in Buckhannon, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born June 26, 1919, in Indiana, Pa., the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary E. Stuart Rising.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Schenley Jay "S.J." Rockey.

She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Mrs. Rockey was a homemaker and attended the Chapel Hill United Methodist of Buckhannon and was a member of the Tennerton United Methodist Church.

Mary Mildred Rogers, 90, of Route 6, Buckhannon, the Lorentz community, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at the home of her daughter, Jean Smith, under the care of St. Joseph Hospice.
She was born Feb. 20, 1911, at Churchville, the daughter of the late Enos and Bertha Woofter Hull.
On June 6, 1936, she married Charles Lee Rogers, who preceded her in death on April 24, 1982.
Surviving are three daughters, Jean Smith, Lorentz, Elizabeth Hall and husband, Worthy, Lost Creek, and Mary Hannon and husband, Gerald, Lick Run Road; two sons, Robert Rogers and wife, Bobbie, Kesling Mill Road, and Charles Rogers and wife, Brenda, Weston; two sisters, Brennice Cole and Virginia Davis, both of Salem; two brothers, John Hull and wife, Ann, Jane Lew, and Dwain Hull of Friendship, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren, David Smith, Donald Smith, Darla Tenney, Allen Hall, Stephen Hall, Mary Ann Saunders, Lynne Love, Edward Hannon, Linda Arbogast, Sharon Tomey, Robert Lee Rogers II, Beth Rogers, Roberta Samples, Shasta Rogers, Crystal Rogers and Jeff Rogers; 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were three sisters, one brother and one granddaughter.
Mrs. Rogers was a member of the Community Educational Outreach Service Club at Lorentz, the Lorentz Community Building Association and the Lorentz United Methodist Church.

Thomas G. Rosier
Thomas G. Rosier, 63, a former resident of Elkins, and a resident of Broaddus Long Term Care Facility for the past four weeks, passed away Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at 12:20 a.m. Death was attributed to cancer.
Before becoming a resident of the Long Term Care Facility, he had made his home with his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Wesley Gibson. Also, he had two very special grandsons, that helped in his care taking, Timothy and Jeremy Ward, while residing with his daughter and son-in-law.
He was born Jan. 11, 1939, in Randolph County, a son of the late Arthur and Lena Leary Rosier.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Gibson and husband, Wesley, of Elkins; one stepdaughter, Linda Blaus and husband, Richard, of Pennsylvania; one stepson, Terry Pennington of Delaware; one sister, Marie Hartman of Ohio; two brothers, Wayne Rosier and wife, Nancy, of Elkins, and Junior Collett, address unknown; two grandsons, Timothy and Jeremy Ward of Elkins; and several nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Jewel Hayes and Cindy Foster, both of Elkins, and a special nephew, Sam Rosier of Elkins.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were three sisters, Madeline Gochenour, Katherine Helmick and Joy Dowling; and five brothers, Sonny Rosier, Dale Collett, Frank Geary, June Rosier and Roy Rosier.
Mr. Rosier was a former janitor at the Elkins City Hall, the Elkins Recreational Center and the Kingsford Charcoal Plant. He retired from Colonial Mill Works in maintenance. He was a Protestant by faith.
At the request of the deceased his remains will be cremated. A memorial service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. from the F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Bryan Headley of the Silent Grove Church in Philippi will officiate. From 19 Sep 2002.

She was a graduate of Parsons High School and attended Davis & Elkins College. She was a homemaker and worked part-time at Wal-Mart’s snack bar. She was a member of First United Methodist Church at Port Orange, Fla.

Carmen L. Ross, 73, a well known home builder and a resident of Southview Drive, Elkins, departed this life at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at the United Hospital Center at Clarksburg. Death was attributed to cancer.
He was born April 24, 1929, at Coalton, a son of the late Emedio and Agatha Soccoccia Rossi, formerly of Coalton.
On July 14, 1951, at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church at Coalton, he was married to the former Elizabeth Ann "Betty" DeMotto, who survives. They had celebrated 51 years of marriage.
Also surviving are one son, Joseph C. "Joe" Ross and wife, Kim, Elkins; one brother, Lawrence Ross and wife, Kathryn, Elkins; four sisters, Antoinette Colabrese, Elkins, Anna Pase, Coalton, Edith DiBacco, Thomas, and Frances Triplett and husband, George, Elkins; one granddaughter, Kaela Ross, Elkins; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill Goddin and wife, Anita DeMotto Goddin, Patricia DeMotto Zirkle, Mary Jo DeMotto, Kathryn Ross and Helen Ross; several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Julie, John and Guido Ross; and one sister, Mary DiBacco.
Mr. Ross was a graduate of Coalton High School with the class of 1948, where he lettered and starred at basketball. Following graduation he served with the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 in the Third Armored Division. He was a retired coal miner, having worked for the Roaring Creek Coal Co., which was owned by his father-in-law, Joseph DeMotto. He was a retired builder and carpenter and owned and operated U-Store-It Storage Buildings.
Friends will be received at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Today, at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home, a prayer service will be recited by the Rev. Father William Anderson. On Saturday morning, Mr. Ross will be moved to the Saint Brendan Catholic Church, where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. The Rev. Father John DiBacco and the Rev. Clinton W. Ross
Clinton Wilson "Clint" Ross, 87, a resident of 110 Wayne Ave., Elkins, passed away Wednesday morning, Aug. 21, 2002, in Thomasville, Ga.
He was born Sept. 22, 1914, at Huttonsville, the son of the late Joseph and Ida Mae Shreve Ross.
On March 9, 1942, he was married to Bessie Pearle Murphy Ross, who survives in Elkins.
Also surviving are six sons, Samuel Ross, Elkins, Roy, Clinton, Robert, Terry and Raymond Ross, all of Detroit, Mich.; four daughters, Amy Watson, Parsons, Sheila Ross, Beverly, Patricia Hedrick, Detroit, Mich., and Amanda Ross, Lincoln Park, Mich.; one sister, Ruby Watson, Belington; 50 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Mr. Ross was employed by Allegheny Lumber prior to his retirement. He attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

George B. Rossbach
George B. Rossbach, 91, of Paula’s Home Care in Buckhannon, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.
Mr. Rossbach was born Oct. 26, 1910, in Belfast, Maine, a son of the late Adolph and Alvina Rossbach.
Surviving are two sons, John Rossbach, Syracuse, N.Y., and Kenneth Rossbach, Dedham, Maine; and four daughters, Anne Rossbach Lep, Nobleboro, Maine, Susan Rossbach, Bethel, Maine, Hazel Pacheco, address unknown, and Catherine Rossbach, Ventura, Calif.
Mr. Rossbach was a college professor for West Virginia Wesleyan College. He received a bachelor of science degree from Harvard University in 1933 and went on to earn a Ph.D. from Stanford University. After a brief position as a professor at William & Mary College, he took a full professorship at WVWC in 1949. He became the head of the science department and taught botany and zoology there until his retirement in 1977. He was considered by many to be one of the most knowledgeable taxonomists and field botanists of his era in West Virginia. His major plant collections are housed in the herbariums of West Virginia University in Morgantown, University of Maine at Orono, WVWC and the Royal Herbarium of Canada in Ottawa. He was an advocate of ecological concerns.

Geraldine V. Rowan, 63, of Mabie, passed away at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at her home.
She was born Dec. 21, 1938, in Lexington, Va., a daughter of the late Clarence Knick and Della Graves Knick, who survives in Elkins.
Also surviving are two sons, James E. Rowan, Charleston, and John C. Rowan, Elkins; one brother, Kenneth Knick, Dailey; and one sister, Diane Corley, Elkins. Two grandsons, Kane James Rowan and Logan Dellis Rowan, and a niece, Terri Weiford, also survive.
Mrs. Rowan was a homemaker and was a popular babysitter in the Mabie area. The children of the area knew her as "Grandma Dean."

Harry Jerald Rowan, 60, of 161 Pocahontas St., Buckhannon, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at 4:30 a.m. in Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 6, 1942, in Buckhannon, a son of Treva Beckner Rowan, who survives in Buckhannon and the late Herbert Rowan.
Also surviving are two daughters, Renee Jackson, Houston, Texas, and Tammy Jo Cain, Texas; and one brother, Donald Rowan, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Herbert Rowan.
Mr. Rowan was a construction worker.

She was married to Lloyd Rowan, who preceded her in death in 1974.

Mrs. Rowan was born April 4, 1904, in Ten Mile, a daughter of the late Abraham and Rosalee Tenney Kelley.
On May 3, 1937, she married Leroy C. Rowan, who preceded her in death in 1991.
Surviving are one son, Rudy Rowan, Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Bambi Rowan, Beckley, and Cinnamon Knicely, Ft. Wayne, Ind.; and one great-grandson, Seth Knicely, Ft. Wayne, Ind.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Doris Mae Rowan; five sisters, Eva. F. Strader, Clara Naylor, Gertie Miller, Elizabeth Kelley and Nola Naylor; and three brothers, Lonnie Kelley, Paul Kelley and Willie Kelley.
Mrs. Rowan was a homemaker and a Protestant by faith.

Pauline Phillips Rowan, 80, a resident of 130 Parkwood Drive, Buckhannon, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, at Holbrook’s Nursing Home,
She was born Dec. 3, 1921, in Adrian, the daughter of the late Charles Samuel and Hattie Dell Thompson Smith.
She was twice married. On Dec. 24, 1941, she was married to Glenn Phillips, who preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 1985.
On Aug. 25, 1988, she was married to Harold Richard Rowan, who survives.
Surviving are two sons, Larry R. Phillips, Buckhannon, and Roger Glenn Phillips, Buckhannon; one daughter, Shirley A. Smith, Mt. Clare; one stepson, Ronald Rowan, Buckhannon; one stepdaughter, Patty Hoover, French Creek; four sisters, Ethelean Bennett, Buckhannon, Rosalean Humphrey, Philippi, Mabelean Orsburn, Nutter Fort, and Emelean Quick, Buckhannon; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were three sisters, Bethelean Stonebraker, Madeline Phillips and Ilene Welch; and one brother, Willard Smith.
Mrs. Rowan was a homemaker and a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and the Sunshine Group of Sand Run.

She was born Feb. 17, 1917, at Hendricks, a daughter of the late Donald Lee Summerfield and Lottie Mae Rhoades Summerfield.
She was married to the late Denver Roy, who preceded her in death in September 1986.
Surviving are two sons, Stelman Ray Roy and wife, Betty, Parsons, and Winfred "Winnie" Willard Roy and wife, Midge, Winchester, Va.; several stepchildren, three sisters, Sarah Nestor and husband, Bud, Parsons, Elsie Lipscomb and husband, Lonnie, Augusta, and Bonnie Hartpence, Dakota, Texas; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and niece and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Charles Roy; one brother, Cecil Summerfield; one sister, Susan Teter; one grandson, one half brother and two half sisters.
She attended the schools of Hendricks. Along with her husband, they operated the Parsons Laundry Mat for many years. She was a housekeeper for various families of Tucker County. She was a caretaker, a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal Church at Rosendorf.

Mr. Rucker was a lineman on the railroad and was employed for the West Virginia Department of Highways. He was last employed as a night watchman for Summersville Mining Co., from where he retired in 1982.
He was a Protestant by faith.

Charles H. Rucker - Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Thursday after 5 p.m. On Friday, Mr. Rucker will be moved to Swiss Memorial Methodist Church where friends may call from noon until 1 p.m., the funeral hour, with Pastor Phil Hicks officiating. Charles H. Rucker
Charles H. Rucker, 82, of Swiss and of Route 1, Buckhannon, where he had made his home with his son, Wilbur, for the past six years, died at 2:35 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at his residence. He had been in declining health for the past month.
Mr. Rucker was born Nov. 11, 1919, in Swiss, a son of the late Christopher Columbus and Mary Jane Elzick Rucker.
He married the former Rebecca Irene Cummings, who preceded him in death on June 14, 1984.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Emma Jean) Smith, Buckhannon, and Anna May Gregory, Wooster, Ohio; five sons, Gary Lee Rucker, Michigan, Charles Robert Rucker and wife, Janet, Spencer, Johnny Henry Rucker and wife, Diane, Cassity, Wilbur Wesley Rucker and wife, Annabelle, Wooster, Ohio, and Herman Ray Rucker, Creston, Ohio; two sisters, Madeline Bowles, Tacoma, Ohio, and Ollie Whitaker, Swiss; 26 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Ann Rucker; two sons, Teddy Rucker and Richard Chris Rucker; two sisters, two brothers, John and Jessie Rucker; and two granddaughters, Patricia Ann Rucker and Heather Rucker.

Leon G. Ruckle
Leon George "Punk" Ruckle, 89, of Davis, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at his residence in Davis.
Mr. Ruckle was born June 19, 1912, in Dobbin, a son of the late Leon Monterville Ruckle and Amanda Kline Ruckle.
He married Ruth Sponaugle Ruckle, who preceded him in death in 1996.
Surviving are a son, Dale Ruckle and wife, Barbara, Thomas; two daughters, Kathy Thomas and husband, Ted, Davis, and Donna Hufschmid and husband, Gary, Nessulbach, Switzerland; a sister, Doris Arnold, Davis; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Mr. Ruckle was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church of Davis. He was a member of the FOE 936 of Davis and the Alpine Post of the VFW 8367 and the CCC.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home Saturday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Sunday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. J.J. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Davis Cemetery. 8 Feb 2002.

John W. Runion
John Walter Runion, 89, of Antioch, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.
Friends were received at Schaeffer Funeral Home Sunday. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel today at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens in Petersburg. From 30 Sep 2002.

Homer W. Rush
Homer William "Red" Rush, 87, of Route 2, Philippi, died Thursday evening, Dec. 5, 2002, at his home following an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 4, 1915, at Rimer, Pa., a son of the late Simon Joseph and Annie Theressa (Delacour) Rush.
On Nov. 14, 1941, he married the former Violet Leone Reedy, who preceded him in death on April 16, 1991.
Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Ellen "Dottie" Barrett, Oil City, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Bernice Ahrens and Margaret Perrine; and by four brothers, Albert Rush, Glenn Rush, Elmer Rush and Clarence Rush.
Mr. Rush was a veteran of World War II, serving with Company A, 817th Tank Destroyer Battalion, U.S. Army. He was a retired equipment operator in surface mining. He was a member of the Philippi Presbyterian Church, St. John’s Lodge No. 24, AF & AM at Shinnston and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason with membership in the Clarksburg and Wheeling bodies.
Friends may call at Stemple & Forman Funeral Home in Philippi from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel at 7 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. David Bower officiating. Graveside rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Jerusalem Lutheran Cemetery, New Bethlehem, Pa. Stemple & Forman Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. From 7 Dec 2002.
