Rev. James Fancher
The Rev. James Elroy Fancher, 81, a resident of 1104 A Kerens Ave., Elkins, where he had made his home with his daughter and son-in-law, the Rev. Pauline "Sue" and the Rev. Charles Herron, since 1985, passed away, Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at 6:40 a.m. in Davis Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since Oct. 8. He had been in failing health since suffering a severe stroke.
He was born Oct. 19, 1920, at Leon, N.Y., a son of the late Ralph Dennison and Lula Belle Reed Fancher.

Rev. James Fancher
Rev. James Elroy Fancher, 81, a resident of 1104 S. Kerens Ave., where he had made his home with his daughter and son-in-law, Rev. Pauline "Sue" and Rev. He was thrice married. His first wife, the former Blanche Elizabeth Scott, passed away on Christmas Day in 1970. He then married the former Edna Marie Shiflett, who also preceded him in death. His third wife, the former Orphie Goldsmith, preceded him in death on March 11, 1995.
Rev. Fancher is survived by four daughters, Rev. Miriam Ruth Bass and husband, Rev. Joseph Bass, of Bladenboro, N.C., Grace Elizabeth Dickerhoof and husband, Willard, of Ravenna, Ohio, Esther Mae Brown and husband, R.C., of Statesville, N.C., and the Rev. Pauline "Sue" Herron and husband, Rev. Charles Herron, of Elkins; two sons, Larry James Fancher and wife, Lynn, of Portland, Ore., and Johnny Ray Fancher and wife, Linda, of Elkins; one sister, Laura C. Fancher of Rochester, N.Y.; and one brother, Lowell Fancher of Fillmore, N.Y.
Also surviving are 57 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren that go back to the fifth generation of the Fancher family and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was a daughter, Mary Ann Fancher; a son, David Paul Fancher; a sister, Lillis Mear; a brother, Lester Fancher; and a granddaughter, Faith Ruth Bass.
Rev. Fancher was a veteran having served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He graduated from the Houghton Academy in Houghton, N.Y. The building in which he graduated from was named the Fancher Hall after his family.
He worked for White Rubber Company in Ravenna, Ohio. He was a minister for 42 years, having founded and ministered at the Dailey Revival Center from 1961-1966. He also preached at the Brethren Church on the Ward Road and was assistant pastor of the Full Gospel Mission in Ravenna, Ohio. He was a minister at the Our Lord’s House of Prayer in Akron, Ohio.
Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Friday after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner Chapel Saturday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Larry Bailey of Philippi will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. State Memorial Gardens. The Tygart Valley Post 3647 VFW and the H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion will conduct full military rites at the gravesite. Howard E. Fansler
Howard E. Fansler, 90, a resident of 120 Conaway Drive, Elkins, passed away Sunday morning, March 10, 2002, in Broaddus Hospital Extended Care Facility.
He was born Dec. 30, 1911, at Bowden, a son of the late William and Minnie Mae Day Fansler.
He was married to Dollie Howell Phares Fansler, who survives in Elkins.
Also surviving are one son, William Owen Fansler and wife, Louella, Tracy, Calif.; two daughters, Bettie Gear, Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. Charles (Vieva) Ward of Elkins; two stepdaughters, Patricia A. Johnson, Edgewater, Fla., and Mrs. Guy (Avis) Ryan of Elkins; one sister, Edna Smith, Cumberland, Md.; 11 grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were two sons, Howard E. Fansler and Everett Fansler; 10 brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Fansler attended the schools of Randolph County and was employed as a railway engineer for Western Maryland Railroad for 50 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Elkins and the United Transportation Union.

Claude C. Farrar
Claude C. "Tab" Farrar, 88, of Route 3, Box 376, Buckhannon, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at his home in Buckhannon.
He was born March 6, 1914, in Goshen, a son of the late Charles B. and Sadie Long Farrar.
On June 19, 1954, he married Audra G. Boggs Farrar, who survives in Buckhannon.
Also surviving are one son, Rusty C. Farrar, Buckhannon; one daughter, Rhonda Wise and husband, Ken, Waldorf, Md.; two brothers, Willard Farrar, Palace Valley, and Herbert Farrar, Freedom, Pa.; two sisters, Josephine Morgan, Buckhannon, and Odice Depoy, Geneva, Ohio; one grandson, Kenny Wise, Waldorf, Md.; three granddaughters, Kimberly Wise and Tracie Wise, both of Waldorf, Md., and Shonda Farrar, Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Loris Farrar, Roy Farrar, Troy Farrar and Coy Farrar; one sister, Iris Snyder; and one granddaughter, Kristina Wise.
He was a steel worker at A.M. Byers Co. He was a Methodist by faith.
Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. William C. Eskew Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. From 22 Oct 2002.

Robert E. Farris
Robert Edward Farris, 84, of the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center in Belington and formerly of Junior, died at 5:05 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health for quite sometime.
Mr. Farris was born Sept. 15, 1917, in Junior, a son of the late Elza and Elsie Bibey Farris.
He was twice married. First, he married Marry E. Harris, who preceded him in death in 1977. Second, on April 6, 1979, he married the former Arlene D. Lambert, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Thomas Farris, Florida, and David Farris, Oregon; two stepsons, Delmis Joe Lambert, North Carolina, and Roger Dale Lambert, Dartmoor; a stepdaughter, Evelyn Sue Poling, New York; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was preceded in death by four brothers, Elmer Farris, Roual Farris, Jasper Farris and Leroy Farris; and two sisters, Evelyn Frum and Ella Mae Farris.
Mr. Farris attended the schools of Mineral and Barbour counties. He was employed by the city of Akron as maintenance foreman for 24 years and was formerly employed as custodian at Belington Middle School. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Elkins.
Funeral Arrangements
: Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington today from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, with the Rev. Downing Gregory and the Rev. Doyle Neil Rider officiating. At the request of the deceased his remains will be cremated. Interment of the cremains will be in the Fraternal Cemetery in Belington at a later date. From 13 Feb 2002.

Brigetta M. Ferguson
Brigetta Mae Ferguson, 89, of Fairmont, died Monday, April 15, 2002, at Fairmont General Hospital, after a long illness.
She was born in Seibert, Colo., on May 23, 1912, a daughter of the late Tolbert and Ingabe Shoemaker Ferguson.
She is survived by one sister, Lucy Ferguson of Fairmont; three nieces, Edna and husband, Bill Weaver, of Fairmont, Helen Hardesty of Fairmont, and Doris and John Shaw of Virginia; and one nephew, Paul and wife, Patty Ferguson, of Fairmont.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Calvin, William, Carl and Howard Ferguson; and one sister, Lula Ferguson.
She was a homemaker. She attended the Primitive Baptist Church at Montrose. She enjoyed flower gardening, working word puzzles and caring for stray cats.
Friends may call at Frey Home for Funerals today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Services will be held at Primitive Baptist Church in Montrose Friday at 2 p.m. with Elder Velden Linn officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. From 18 Apr 2002.

David A. Ferrell
David A. Ferrell, 45, a resident of Mill Creek, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning, March 13, 2002.
He was born Dec. 15, 1956, in Richwood, a son of Dorkes Reams Ferrell, who survives at Mill Creek, and the late Frank A. Ferrell.
Also surviving are two sisters, Helen E. Cosner, Russellville, Ky., and Brenda L. Daniels, Mill Creek; two nieces and four nephews.
Mr. Ferrell was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, an active member of Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he was a volunteer driver of the Veterans Administration Van, and a participant in military funeral honors. He was a Methodist by faith and a former volunteer with the Randolph County Emergency Squad Valley Unit.
At the request of the deceased, his remains were cremated. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Mission Church at Mill Creek with the Rev. Frank Long officiating. Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements. From 16 Mar 2002 and 18 Mar 2002

Charles F. "Pete" Filler, 82, of Walnut Street, Parsons, died early today, Jan. 11, 2002, at his home. He had been in declining health and death was attributed to cancer.

Charles F. Filler
Charles F. "Pete" Filler, 82, a resident of Parsons and a former Parsons City Councilman, died Friday morning, Jan. 11, 2002, at his home. He had been in declining health and death was attributed to cancer.
He was born March 23, 1919, at Parsons, the son of the late Percy F. Filler and Edna Stokes Filler.
On June 23, 1943, at Red House, Md., he married the former Estella "Peg" Shahan, who survives. They celebrated 58 years of marriage.
Surviving are one son, Charles Larry Filler and wife, Gwen, Muskogee, Okla.; one daughter, Ronda L. McAdory and husband, Thomas, Columbia, S.C.; one brother, John Filler and wife, Viola, Parsons; three sisters, Margaret Harlow, Mildred Hebb and Ermalea Mauzy and husband, John, all of Parsons; eight grandchildren, Deanna M. Freels, Memphis, Tenn., Michael C. McAdory, North Augusta, S.C., A. Dawn Menke and Holly A. Hobbs, both of Nashville, Tenn., Pamela F. Martin, Wichita, Kan., Rick Agee, Arlington, Texas, Mark Filler, Lyons, Kan., and R. Brook Filler, Bethany, Okla.; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Percy "Bud" Filler, and two sisters, June Felton and Alice Collette.
Mr. Filler attended Parsons High School and served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II.
He worked for the Dorman Mills Woolen Co. for 36 years as finishing supervisor until the factory closed.
He served as president of the Textile Union for many years, and was a supervisor for the Stillwater Textile Plant in Goshen, Va., until retiring in 1986.
He served on Parsons City Council from 1992 to 2000 and was a member of the Parsons Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
Mr. Filler was a charter member of the Parsons Church of the Nazarene and helped with the construction of the sanctuary and activities center.
He and his wife received the Distinguished Service Award for their number of years of service to the church.
Funeral Arrangements
: Friends will be received at the Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home in Parsons from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. On Monday, Mr. Filler will be moved to the Parsons Church of the Nazarene for visitation from noon until 1 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Thurman L. Fincham
Thurman L. "Jim" Fincham, 85, a resident of 228 1/2 Heavner Ave., Elkins, passed away at 2 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness.
He was born April 6, 1917, at Laurel Branch near Adolph, a son of the late Adolph and Elsie Fincham Wegman.
On Sept. 20, 1945, he was married to Martha A. White Fincham, who survives in Elkins.
Also surviving are three sons, Willard Keith Fincham and wife, Sharon, of Elkins, Doyle Mitchell Fincham and wife, Cindy, of Summit Point, and David Lance Fincham and wife, Deborah, of Petersburg; two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Sheila Kathryn) Johnson of Elkins, and Mrs. Craig (Shelley Denise) Hyre of Beverly; 12 grandchildren, Scott Fincham and wife, Amy, Ryan Fincham and wife, Renee, Marsha Fincham and fiance, Gary, and Tiffany Fincham, Danielle Fincham and fiance, Nick, and Derek Fincham, Aaron, Jeremy, Christopher and Andrew Johnson and Brantley and Zachary Hyre; three brothers, Preston Wegman and wife, Dorothy, New Philadelphia, Ohio, Clayton Wegman, Elyria, Ohio, and Kenneth Wegman and wife, Pearl, Debary, Fla.; three sisters, Muriel French, Charles Town, Mrs. Don (Gretchen) Clevenger, Volga, and Mrs. Sylvia Fitzwater of Junior; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Also preceded him in death were one son, Larry Duane Fincham, killed in Korea in 1971, while serving his country; four brothers, Chester, Randall, Francis and Richard; and one sister, Mrs. Tom (Evelyn) George.
Mr. Fincham attended schools at Laurel Branch and Adolph. He was a farmer, coal miner and timber cutter before entering the Army in 1942. He was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division, Glider Infantry at Ft. Bragg, N.C. He was awarded the "Glider Wings" medal for leadership instructor and demonstrative abilities of the CG-4 Glider in 1943 at the Alliance Air Base in Aberdine, Neb., and honorably discharged in 1946. He worked for Davis Barrel Stove Co., Elkins-Randolph County Airport and Allegheny Lumber Co. and retired from Gunlock Chair Co. as veneer division supervisor in Wayland, N.Y. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of Elkins Church of the Brethren.

Austin Ray Finlen
Infant Austin Ray Finlen, 3 months and 1 day old, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at 6:15 a.m. in the emergency room at Davis Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health since birth.
He was born Feb. 6, 2002, at Buckhannon.
He will be sadly missed by his parents, Timothy Finlen and Peggy Sue Rucker, who survive at Mill Creek; one brother, Brandon Ray Finlen, at home; his paternal grandparents, Ronald and Pam Tenney Finlen of Adolph Road; maternal grandparents, John and Diane Shreve Rucker of Cassity; paternal great-grandfather, Thomas Jeff Tenney of Adolph; maternal great-grandmother, Ressie Scott Shreve of Cassity; paternal great-grandmother, Ethel Finlen Louk of Dailey; five uncles and six aunts, Johnny Rucker and Renee Burns, Toby and Jessie Finlen, all of Cassity, Tommy Finlen and Tasha Bird of Huttonsville, Chris and Muffy Henline, Rhonda and Max Smith of Mill Creek, and Tina Delcampo of Dallas, Texas; and several great-uncles, aunts and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his maternal grandfather, Junior Shreve; paternal great-grandfather, Elmer R. Finlen; paternal great-grandmother, Violet Tenney; and maternal great-grandparents, Charles and Rebecca Rucker.
He was a patient at Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital for two months.
Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Friday after 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, he will be moved to Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church for visitation from noon until 1 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Frank Long, pastor of the church, and the Rev. David Slawter, pastor of Markley Memorial Chapel, will officiate. Interment will follow in Mill Creek Cemetery at Mill Creek. Lester L. Firl Jr.
Lester Leo Firl Jr., 54, of Hambleton, passed away April 26, 2002, at his residence. Death was attributed to cancer.
He was born Aug. 26, 1947, in Parsons, a son of Lucille Firl Arbogast of Davis, and the late Lester Leo Firl.
He is also survived by his wife Barbara Arnold Firl; one son, Adam J. Firl, attending Fairmont State College; three daughters, Stella L. Firl of Elkins, Jane Ann and husband, Dave Critchley, of Laurel, Md., and Vivetta Malie and husband, Steve Cain, of Grantsville; and one brother, Phil and wife, Carla Firl, of Montrose.
He was preceded in death by one half brother, Joe Drescher in 1999.
Mr. Firl was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was maintenance III employee of Kingsford Charcoal Co. He was a member of VFW Post 6735 of Mt. Storm.
The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to Hospice Care Corp. for their support and guidance.

Nina E. Fish
Nina Elizabeth McCourt Fish, 93, of Rosewood Nursing Home, Grafton, for the past five years and formerly of 131 E. Main St., Grafton, died at 5:24 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, in Rosewood Nursing Home.
Mrs. Fish was born Nov. 3, 1908, in Grafton, a daughter of the late Dellet and Valley Payne Knight.
She was twice married. First, she married Charles Edward McCourt, who preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 1956. Second, she married Harry Glen Fish, who preceded her in death on March 3, 1983.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Paul Edward Sr. and wife, Martha McCourt, Warren, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Betty McCourt, Grafton; a sister-in-law, Josephine Knight, Chestnut Ridge, Pa.; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Floyd and Lee Knight; a daughter, Laura Juanita Bennett; two brothers, Charles Edward McCourt Jr. and Arthur Lee McCourt; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Fish was a cook at Inwood Restaurant in Grafton in her earlier years. She later worked at the Childrens Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, and retired at Women’s Hospital. She attended Faith Tabernacle in Grafton.

John M. Fisher
John Moore Fisher, 82, a resident of the Bearhunter Mountian Estates, Elkins, departed this life early Saturday morning, Aug. 3, 2002, at his home. He had bee in declining health, however death was unexpected and was attributed to cancer.
He was born Jan. 19, 1920, at Montrose, a son of the late William Daniel Fisher and Bessie Edna Moore Fisher.
On July 22, 1940, at Grantsville, Md., he was married to the former Mary Louise Kelley, who survives. They had just celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
Surviving are two sons, Alan L. Fisher, Elkins, and William K. Fisher, Montrose; three daughters, Judith A. Sharp and husband, Louis Tryon, N.C., Cynthia L. Scott, Saluda, N.C., and Terri L. Hunsicker and husband, Gerald, Pisgah Forest, N.C.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Fisher attended the one-room school at Montrose for eight years. He graduated form Elkins High School with the class of 1936. He attended Davis & Elkins College and received a bachelor's degree in physics and mathematics in 1940. He returned to college after establishing his career and earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering in 1950. In 1990, he received an honorary doctorate from his Alma Mater. He began his professional career with DuPont Co. at Belle. His first assignment was with the construction division. A year later, he transferred to the Chambers Works, N.J., as an assistant engineer. In 1945, he moved to the Oklahoma Ordnance Works, and seven months later he joined the U.S. Army.
During 1946, he rejoined engineering at Parkersburg, as engineering office superintendent. He had his first Wilmington Del. assignment in 1948. He was loaned to the Defense Production Administration as an advisor on production planning for Atomic Energy Commission projects in 1952. In 1953, moved to the Louviers Building in Wilmington, Del., with the design division. He was promoted to senior process engineer in 1968.
He was named project manager in 1971 and resident design manager in the International department at Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1974. In 1976, he was transferred back to design and was named specialist manager- computer-aided-design in 1980. In December 1986, he retired from the DuPont Co. He remained a registered professional engineer in three states, Delaware, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
After retirement, he joined the International Executive Service Corps and was immediately assigned to San Paulo, Brazil, for four assignments. Later assignments for the IESC included travel to Costa Rica and Egypt.
He was a member of the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder, had served on the president's advisory board at Davis & Elkins College and on the board of directors of the Appalachian Community Health Care. He was a member of the H.W. Daniel's Post 29, American Legion, the American Association of Retired Persons, the Elkins Lions Club, where he had previously served as past president of the Brandywine Chapter of Pennsylvania, Elkins Lodge 1135, BPOE, where he had served as past exalted ruler and served as DDGER for the central district and was a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. He was an avid genealogist, having been consumed with family history during his later years. In relationship to his hobby, he was a member of the Hacker's Creek Pioneer Descendants, the Allegheny Regional Family History Society, the Belington Public Library, the Harrison County Genealogy Society and the Randolph and Upshur County historical societies.
Cremation services will be provided by Lohr & Barb Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Elkins Memorial Gardens at Elkins. The Rev. Vernon Eugene "Bounty Hunter" Fitzgerald, 59, of East St. Charles, Grafton, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, in Grafton City Hospital in Grafton.
Mr. Fitzgerald was born Jan. 13, 1943, in Goshen, a son of Ruby Sines Davis, who survives in Buckhannon, and the late O’Dell Fitzgerald.
On Jun 8, 1980, he married Josephine Canter Fitzgerald, who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Carol Sue Ratcliff, Las Vegas, Calif., Cheryl Arnold, Buckhannon, and Loretta Conley, Dover, Del.; one son, David Fitzgerald, Haverstraw, N.Y.; three stepdaughters, Mary McHenry, Summersville, Mabel Dovak, Beaverdam, Va., and Neva Workman, Grafton; a brother, Charles Ray Fitzgerald, Blanchester, Ohio; three sisters, Carol Jean Linger, Frenchton, Sharon Hollen, Buckhannon, and Janet Sue Branham, Richwood; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two infant sisters.
Mr. Fitzgerald was a care taker for Sports Services of Virginia. He served in the Army and was a Christian by faith.
Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home today from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Larry Bailey officiating. Coy L. Fitzpatrick
Coy L. "Mountain Man" Fitzpatrick, 93, of Valley Head, formerly of Nutter Fort, Stonewood, died at his home, Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at 11:25 p.m. following a brief illness.
He was born July 10, 1909, at Rosedale, the son of the late Scott and Flora Twyman Fitzpatrick.
He was married to Hester Davis Fitzpatrick, who preceded him in death in December 2000.
Surviving are one son, Marlin and wife, Charlotte Fitzpatrick, Broadway Avenue, Clarksburg; three sisters, Ida Pearl Sears, Massilon, Ohio, Lillian May McCarty, West Milford, and Mary Elizabeth Thompson of California; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, T.S. Jr. and Joe Fitzpatrick; one daughter, Myrna McIntyre; and one infant sister.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy. He was employed by PPG Industries Works 12 for more than 40 years as an electrician. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, VFW 573 of Clarksburg, a member of the West Virginia Muzzle Loaders Club and the Appalachian Ranger and the Ivory Mount muzzle loading clubs.
He was a person that loved the out-of-doors and probably understood the habits of wildlife to the point that he deservedly earned the nickname of "Mountain Man."
His wishes were being carried out of being cremated, with memorial services scheduled at a later date. Greathouse Funeral Home in Salem is in charge of the arrangements.  From 23 Dec 2002.

Leon S. "Fitz" Fitzpatrick, 98, a former resident of 10th Street, Elkins, and a patient in Swisher’s Private Home Care for the past two years, passed away Monday afternoon, April 22, 2002, at the home.
He was born Jan. 30, 1904, at Ada, Okla.
He is survived by long-time friends and extended family, Virginia Shipman, Elkins; two daughters, Frances Rightmire and Margaret Coyner; two granddaughters, April Sheffield and Annette White; and one great-granddaughter, Kayla Sheffield.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by his only son, Kirby Ward Fitzpatrick; one sister, one brother and Pat Condry.
Mr. Fitzpatrick received a degree in petroleum engineering from Berea College in Kentucky and his earlier years were spent working in the oil fields of Oklahoma. He was a well-known lumber broker in Randolph and Barbour counties for many years and was a member of the Appalachian Hardwood Association and the National Hardwood Lumber Inspection Association.
At the request of the deceased, his remains will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. The Rev. Dr. Marvin L. Parli will officiate. Harold W. Fitzwater, 77, of Route 1, Philippi, passed peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at the home he shared with his son.
He was born April 24, 1925, at Junior, a son of the late Talbert and Margaret Hinebaugh Fitzwater.
On April 25, 1947, he married the former Helen Y. "Bonnie" Hymes, who preceded him in death on Feb. 15, 1999.
Surviving are one son, Randall E. Fitzwater, with whom he made his home; three daughters, Mrs. Chuck (Vicki) Reed, Belington, Mrs. Gail (Beverly) Hardy, Clarksburg, and Mrs. Doug (Katrina) Meadows, St. Leonard, Md.; one brother, Raymond Fitzwater, Belington; two sisters, Kate Lemon, Akron, Ohio, and Midge Pratts, Surprise, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Bob, Aubrey, Stanley and Harry Fitzwater; and one infant sister.
Mr. Fitzwater was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army and was a life member of Laurel Mountain Post 410, VFW at Belington. He was a former coal miner, retiring from Wolverine Mining’s Badger Mine and was a member of the United Mine Workers, District 31. He was a Methodist.
Friends may call at Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel in Belington from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday, when funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Rachel E. Fitzwater, 58, a resident of 978 Harrison Ave., Elkins passed away at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
She was born July 28, 1944, in Elkins, a daughter of the late Stanley C. and Kathleen C. Sinsel Haymond.
She was married to Everett L. Fitzwater, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son, Roger Nelson of Elkins; four brothers, Charles Haymond, Amelia, Ohio, Allen Haymond, Moscow, Ohio, Dennis Haymond of Beverly, and Henry "Chris" Haymond of Apple Grove; one sister, Myra Haymond Shreve of Beverly; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews and Liz Hutton, who provided care for Mrs. Fitzwater.
Also preceding her in death was one brother, Wayne H. Haymond.
Mrs. Fitzwater was a homemaker.

Randall D. "Gary" Fitzwater, 67, of Martinsburg, died Monday, March 25, 2002, in War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs.
He was born April 19, 1934, in Junior, a son of the late Stanley and Margaret Corley Fitzwater.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Murray Fitzwater; four children, Stanley Fitzwater, Inwood, Mark Fitzwater, Hedgesville, Alex Fitzwater and Christy Cordell, both of Martinsburg; grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of five; three stepdaughters, Sharon Kantzer, Kristin Schuknueht and Robin Dias; 10 stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Fitzwater.
He was retired from General Motors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Betty L. Flanagan
Betty Lucille Flanagan, 65, a resident of 301 Hetzel Ave., in Belington, was pronounced deceased upon arrival at the Broaddus Hospital in Philippi at 8:48 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2002. She had been in declining health for the past several weeks and death was attributed to cancer.
She was born April 21, 1936, in Barbour County, a daughter of the late Howard Porter and Bertha Virginia Ware Wagner.
She was twice married. First, she married Lambert Poling, who preceded her in death. Second, on March 15, 1975, she married Earl M. Flanagan, who survives at their home in Belington.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Philip Poling and wife, Jennifer, Belington; three daughters, Nancy Curkendall and husband, Charlie, Belington, Sue Skidmore and husband, Scott, Belington, and Cathy D. Flanagan, Belington; five grandchildren, Ian and Logan Smithson, Gunner and Jenna Poling and Tristan Skidmore; and two stepgrandchildren, Cody and Trahern Curkendall.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Gary Michael Skidmore and Jacob Edward Flanagan; one infant son, one brother, Donnie Wagner, and one infant sister. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Flanagan was a graduate of Belington High School. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Southern Baptist Church in Belington.
Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and Thursday until 11 a.m. at which time she will be moved to Calvary Southern Baptist Church in Belington, where friends may call from noon until 1 p.m., the funeral hour, with the Rev. Rosie Rebecca Flanagan, 89, a former resident of Coalton, and of the Laurel View Apartments, passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at 10 p.m. at her residence, where she had made her home with her daughter, Louise, her son Ray and son-in-law, Ralph, since Aug. 11, 2000.
She was born May 30, 1913, at Falls Mills, near Sutton, a daughter of the late John and Mary Butcher Hamilton.
On Dec. 12, 1930, she was united in marriage to Clarence Lee Flanagan, who preceded her in death on April 11, 1972.

She is survived by four daughters, Louise Esposito of Belington, Mae Flanagan of Melbourne, Fla., Lucille Spencer of Junior, and Betty Spencer of Buckhannon; four sons, Earl Flanagan, Bud Flanagan and Ray Flanagan, all of Belington, and Paul Flanagan of Coalton; 39 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was a homemaker and a member of Stringtown United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel today after 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner chapel Thursday at 3 p.m. The Rev. Edra Ruth Fleming, 66, of Route 3, Buckhannon, the Lick Run road, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. Death was attributed to cancer.
Mrs. Fleming was born April 10, 1935, in Kanawha Head, a daughter of the late Loy A. and Opal M. Helmick Crawford.
On Dec. 20, 1953, she married Hubert H. "Tommy" Fleming, who survives.

Fleming, Philadelphia, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Pam Fleming, Glenmore, Pa.; a daughter, Debbie Dean and son-in-law, Gary Dean, Buckhannon; three brothers, Dr. French Crawford, Parkersburg, Kenneth Crawford, Kanawha Head, and the Rev. Johnnie Crawford, Elyria, Ohio; two sisters, Kay Rumph, Elyria, Ohio, and Cosbie Fisher, Kanawha Head; three granddaughters, Jaime Fleming, a sophomore at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va., Megan Fleming, a freshman at Westchester College in Westchester, Pa., and Amanda Fleming, Glenmore, Pa.; two grandsons, Joshua Dean, Buckhannon, and Ben Fleming, Glenmore, Pa.; two stepgrandchildren, Jeff and Shelly Dean; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Escar Crawford; and a sister, Lydia Holbrook.
Mrs. Fleming retired from Upshur County school system after 31 years of service. She was a Christian and attended Good Hope Tabernacle.

Harvey E. Fleming Jr.
Harvey Earl Fleming Jr., 71, a resident of 1106 S. Kerens Ave., Elkins, departed this life early Wednesday morning, April 3, 2002, at his home. He had been in declining health for the past six months although death was unexpected.
He was born April 8, 1930, at New Market, Va., a son of the late Harvey Earl Fleming Sr. and Eileen Alexander Fleming.
On Sept. 7, 1962, at Elkins, he married the former Margaret Coberly Morris, who survives.
Also surviving are one stepson, Robert Morris, Pittsburgh, Pa.; three stepdaughters, Connie Anderson, Bluefield, Mary Beth Bennett, Kokomo, Ind., and Jean Safrit, Aberdeen, Md.; two brothers, James Fleming, Harrisonburg, Va., and Homer Fleming, Charlottesville, Va.; one sister, Etta McGagee, Harrisonburg, Va.; 11 stepgrandchildren, several stepgreat-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Fleming was a graduate of New Market High School with the class of 1947. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving for four years.
He was a graduate of Virginia Tech, was a forester, having worked for the U.S. Forest Service at Virginia, Richwood and Elkins, from which he retired. He was a member of the H.W. Daniels Post 29, American Legion, Elkins Lodge 108, AF & AM and was a Methodist by faith.
Cremation services were provided by Lohr-Barb-Vance Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery. Pastor Charles R. Herron will officiate and interment of the cremains will follow, with the H.W. Daniel’s Post 29, American Legion and the Tygarts Valley Post 3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars conducting full military rites and the Elkins Lodge 108, AF & AM conducting Masonic graveside rites. Charles Hughes Fletcher
Charles Hughes Fletcher, 63, a well-known Elkins businessman of 28 Pinewood Drive, Elkins, died at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, in Elkins-Randolph County Family YMCA. He had been in his usual health and death was attributed to cardiac arrest.
Fletcher was a 1957 graduate of Elkins High School, where he was a football and basketball player.
He was a 1961 graduate of Davis & Elkins College and a 1963 graduate of Penn State University with a master’s degree in education.
After graduation, he joined his father in the Fletcher Insurance Co. and, in 1964, he founded Fletcher Real Estate Brokerage Co., which he operated until his death.
For the past 15 years he was a certified appraiser.
He was inducted into the Randolph County Athletic Hall of Fame.
He was a lifelong member of the Elkins-Randolph County Family YMCA, where he served on the board of director’s, where he was honored as director emeritus and was instrumental in starting the YMCA swim team.
He had been honored with the Who’s Who National Business Award.
He was a licensed instrument and rating pilot and a member of the Elkins Pilot’s Club.
He was a member of the board of directors of Davis Trust Co. for 20 years, Elkins Lodge No. 1135, BPOE and Elkins Lodge No. 116, IOOF and a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church.
Fletcher was born Jan. 14, 1939, in Elkins, a son of the late D. Edwin Fletcher and Virginia Mae Puffenbarger Fletcher.
On Dec. 16, 1961, at the First United Methodist Church in Elkins, he married the former Patricia Gillispie, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Kelly Shuppe and husband, Joseph, Morgantown, Michael Fletcher and wife, Kellie, Hurricane, and Leigh Fletcher, Elkins; three brothers, David E. Fletcher Jr. and wife, Jackie, Sarasota, Fla., James "Jim" Fletcher and wife, Sarah, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Thomas "Tom" Fletcher, Fairmont; a sister, Betty Ruddle and husband, Joe, Annapolis, Md.; two grandchildren, Reece and Oliver Fletcher, both of Hurricane; mother-in-law, Mabel Gillispie, Buckhannon; and a brother-in-law, Michael Gillispie, Buckhannon.

Winfred B. Foe, 82, of Cass, passed away Monday, July 8, 2002, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea.
Mr. Foe was born June 6, 1920, at Cass, a son of the late Walter and Pearl Tallman Foe.
He was a lifelong resident of Cass and was an employee of Mower, Coastal and Kramer lumber companies. He was also a member of the Riverside Lodge No. 124 at Cass.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Maxine Shinaberry Foe; one daughter, Linda Simmons of Hillsboro; two sons, Lewis Foe of Arbovale, and Lloyd Foe of LaGrange, Ky.; two sisters, Freda Nelson of Marlinton, and Beulah McCoy of St. Petersburg, Fla.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Rev. James M. Fogg
Rev. James Matthew Fogg, 91, passed away at his home in Philippi, Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002.
Rev. Fogg was born May 30, 1911, in Camden, N.J., the only son of the late Clarence Fox Fogg and Florence Mae Long Fogg.
He was married to Ida Lucille Lawrence, who preceded him in death on April 24, 2002.
Surviving are sons, Lawrence and Gerald; and daughter, Sarah Lu; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Rev. Fogg was a graduate of Camden High School, the University of Richmond, Crozer Theological Seminary, and West Virginia University graduate school. He was a civil engineer for the New Jersey State Highway Department and the Army Corps of Engineers in Panama. He served pastorates in Virginia and West Virginia before joining the faculty of Alderson-Broaddus College for 17 years. He continued as a land surveyor, interim pastor and preacher and was active in summer theater. He was a member of the Philippi Baptist Church for more than 40 years.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. He will lie in state at the Philippi Baptist Church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. The Rev. Lucille L. Fogg
Lucille Lawrence Fogg, 88, the wife of the Rev. James M. Fogg, passed away at her home in Philippi, on Wednesday morning, April 24, 2002.
Mrs. Fogg was born Aug. 15, 1913, at Windsor, Isle of Wight County, Va., a daughter of the late Gavin R. Lawrence and Ida Holland Lawrence.
She was married to the Rev. James M. Fogg on Oct. 25, 1941, at Woodland Heights Baptist Church in Richmond, Va.
Surviving are the Rev. Fogg; two sons, Lawrence and wife, Carol Browning Fogg, of Highland Springs, Va., and Gerald and wife, Beth Longo, of Philippi; one daughter, Sarah Lu Fogg and husband, Robert Highsmith, of Bronxville, N.Y. She leaves four grandchildren, David Fogg, April Fogg, John Fogg and Gavin Fogg; two stepgrandchildren, Nadia and Curtis Flusche; and five great-grandchildren, Ashley and Kimberly Fogg and Devin, Quinn and Ryan Conroy.
She was preceded in death by one brother, the Rev. George Holland Lawrence, who preceded her in death in 1970.
She was a graduate of Windsor High School, attended Westhampton College, University of Richmond and Pan American Business College in Richmond. As a young woman, she worked with youth in the Virginia Baptist Training Union Department under the direction of Dr. E.J. Wright. Many will remember her as the postmaster at Alderson-Broaddus College. She was a member of the Philippi Baptist Church and taught the Mary-Martha Sunday School class for many years. She was active in civic organizations and served as president of Philippi Woman’s Club, All Seasons Garden Club, the A-B College Club and Church Women United.
Friends will be received after 4 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, and until 11:30 a.m. Friday, at which time she will be moved to the Philippi Baptist Church to lie in state from noon until 1 p.m., the service hour. The Rev. Daryl Docterman and the Rev. Richard Hepler will officiate. Interment will follow in the Town of Windsor Virginia Cemetery.
Mrs. Fogg expressed her wish that memorial gifts be made in her name to DebRA of America, Inc. to help find a cure for the genetic disorder afflicting her grandson. Gifts to DebRA may be sent in care of Philippi Baptist Church. From 25 Apr 2002.

Regina Fortney
Regina Fortney, 38, of Livingston Avenue, Elkins, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2000, at her residence. She had been in her usual health and death was sudden and unexpected.
She was born Oct. 15, 1963, in Elkins, a daughter of Mary Carr, who survives in Thomas, and the late Larry Carr.
On Jan. 1, 1984, she was married to Roger Fortney, who survives.

Regina June Fortney
Regina June Fortney, 38, a resident of Livingston Avenue, Elkins, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2002, at her residence. She had been in her usual health and death was unexpected.
She was born Oct. 15, 1963, in Elkins, the daughter of the late Harry T. Carr, who preceded her in death in September 2001, and Mary Ellen Coontz Carr, who survives in Thomas.
On Jan. 1, 1985, she was united in marriage to Roger Lee Fortney, who survives.
Surviving are her mother-in-law, Betty Cutright Fortney; a daughter, Amanda Jane Fortney, at home; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Lynn Tetterton, Erwin, Tenn.; a son, Justin Thomas Fortney, at home; a stepson, Roger Lee Fortney Jr., Elkins; three sisters, Rebecca McVicker and Loretta Carr, both of Thomas, and Donna Carr, Fairmont; one half sister, Brenda Fortney, Erwin, Tenn.; one stepgrandson, Scott Ellis Tetterton; and several nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Dempsey (Nancy) Lambert and Mrs. Tim (Loretta) Currence, both of Elkins; five brothers-in-law, Bill and Esther Fortney and Robert and Mary Fortney, all of Elkins, Denver and Ellen Fortney and Alan and Josie Fortney, all of Mill Creek, and Jimmy and Michelle Fortney of Beverly.
Preceding her in death besides her father was her father-in-law, James A. Fortney.
Regina was a homemaker and made hand-sewn quilts. She loved crafts and was an avid bingo player.
At the time of her death she was employed by Bruce Hardwood, where she had worked as a nestor for the past nine years.
A 1982 graduate of Tucker County High School, she was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 175 and a Presbyterian by faith.
Friends will be received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home on Sunday after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner Chapel on Monday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Walter Blough, retired Brethren minister, will officiate. Interment will follow in Elkins Memorial Gardens. From 6 Apr 2002.

Violet Foster, a resident of Hendricks, departed this life early Friday morning, Dec. 20, 2002, at Davis Memorial Hospital emergency room.

Violet M. Foster
Violet Mae "Toots" Foster, 73, a resident of Hendricks, departed this life early Friday morning, Dec. 20, 2002, at her home. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to cardiac arrest.
She was born April 12, 1929, at Elk, near Dry Fork, a daughter of the late Luther Bright and Clara Bell Carr Bright.
On June 21, 1947, at Oakland, Md., she married George Franklin Foster, who survives. They had celebrated 54 years of marriage.
Also surviving are two sons, Larry Eugene Foster of Hendricks, and Rodney Ray Foster of Elkins; one sister, Pansy Ellen Carr of Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas; and two grandchildren, Mandi Foster, a student at Fairmont State College, and Michael Foster of Elkins.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Buddy Bright and Hoy Bright, and one granddaughter, Tina Marie Foster.
She attended the school at Mill Run and Parsons High School. She was an employee of the former Tucker County Hospital. She attended the Pentecostal Church of God at Rosendorf and the Parsons Church of God. She was a homemaker and had a great love for flowers and cooking.
The family will be received at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home in Parsons Monday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Tuesday at 11 a.m. Pastor Eli Hostetler will officiate and interment will follow at Parsons City Cemetery. Helen I. Fowler
Helen I. Pritt Fowler, 85, a former resident of Valley Head and a resident of Elkins for the past 10 years, passed away Monday evening, Oct. 14, 2002, in the Valentine Personal Care Home in Elkins.
She was born Jan. 29, 1917, at Valley Head, a daughter of the late Artie P. Pritt and Laura Elizabeth Lindsay Pritt.
She was married to William Coy "Tony" Fowler, who preceded her in death in 1971.
She is survived by one son, Ronald Fowler of Fayetteville, N.C.; one brother, Artie Pritt Jr. of Chardon, Ohio; four sisters, Urania P. Corley of Valley Head, Una X. Foreback of Huttonsville, Alee V. Rose of Beverly, and Rosie A. Hagglund of Oakland, Md. Also surviving are two grandsons, Michael and Joseph Fowler, both of Greensboro, N.C.; six nieces and six nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Samuel D. Pritt.
Mrs. Fowler was a homemaker and a member of the Valley Head United Methodist Church.

James E. Fox Sr.
James E. Fox Sr., 76, of 82 Wood St., Buckhannon, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at 1:30 a.m. at his home in Buckhannon.
Mr. Fox was born May 25, 1926, in Akron, Ohio, a son of the late James Russell and Pansia Marie Crumins Fox.
On July 23, 1948, he married Gail G. McPherson Fox, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Constance Jeanne Vaughn and Cassandra Marie Schramm, both of Akron, Ohio; three sons, James E. Fox Jr., Buckhannon, Floyd William Fox and Robert Ray Fox, both of Akron, Ohio; two sisters, Betty Nemcovsky, Cleveland, Ohio, and Patricia Leppert, Apple Creek, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He joined the U.S. Marines at the age of 17 and served in World War II and Korea. He was known as one of the China Marines. He retired from the Navy Sea Bees Oct. 9, 1987, with 30 years service. He was a lifetime member of the Buckhannon VFW Post 3663.

Mary Frances Fox
Mary Frances Rucker Fox, 78, of Penn Hills, Pa., died Monday, March 18, 2002.
She was the beloved wife of Lloyd Nelson Fox and the mother of Harley Nelson Fox.
She was a registered nurse in York, Pa., Grafton, Morgantown, and Cumberland, Md., and was a graduate of the Davis Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.
Graveside services will be at the Belington Cemetery at 11 a.m. Monday at the family plot.

Ina Grace Freeman, 70, of Route 2, Belington, died Monday, May 27, 2002, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, following a recent illness.
She was born Sept. 3, 1931, at Moatsville, a daughter of the late Clarence Gordon "Shorty" and Della Lillian Cline Price.
On Aug. 20, 1949, she was married to Ramon Durl Freeman, who survives at Cortland Acres, Thomas.
Also surviving are three daughters, Macel Louise Auvil and husband, Roger, Philippi, Judy Ann Hymes and husband, Jack, Belington, and Grace Marie Freeman and companion, "T" Dadisman Jr., Philippi; one son, Wayne Dwight Freeman and wife, Judy Lynn, Belington; five grandchildren, Danielle Ann Auvil, Wayne Scott Freeman, Brandi Lynette Hymes, Chasity Louise Ware and Megan Amber Dadisman; six great-grandchildren, Zachary Tyler Freeman, MacKenzie Jade Freeman, Adam Joseph Neal Graham, John Joseph Graham III, Skylar Dawn Ware and Dustin Tyler Ware; three brothers, and sisters-in-law, Calvin and Eva Price, Moatsville, William N. and Pauline Price, Philippi, and John E. and Idola Price, Baltimore, Md.; two sisters, Dorothy Godwin, Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. Mackey (Shirley) Laulis, Philippi; and three sisters-in-law, Eleanor Price, Freda Price and Ruth Price.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Price; four brothers, Robert Price, Herbert Earl Price, George Arnold Price and Clarence Burl Price; one brother-in-law, Elbert Godwin; and two granddaughters, Monica Faye Freeman and Elizabeth Diane Freeman.
Mrs. Freeman was a homemaker and farm wife. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed working with ceramics. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She attended the Moatsville Free Gospel Church, the Central Chapel United Methodist Church and the Calvary Mission Church at Belington.

Marie Fredlock, 75, of Lugoff, S.C., died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002.
Mrs. Fredlock was born in Adolph, a daughter of the late Wilbert L. and Leota Kifer Goss.
She married Stanley R. Fredlock, who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Karen Marie Kendo and husband, Delmar, Harleyville, S.C., Marsha Kay Reckley and husband, William, Thurmont, Md., and Carla Ellen Engle and husband, Steve, Clarksburg; and four grandsons.
Mrs. Fredlock was a graduate of Mountain State College and a member of Alpha Iota Sorority, Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Order of the Eastern Star and a former volunteer for Christian Community Ministries.

Lillian M. Freeman
Lillian May Freeman, 79, a former resident of Route 1, Moatsville and the Baughman Towers, Philippi, died Sunday afternoon, June 23, 2002, in Barbour County Good Samaritan Center, Belington, where she had been a patient for approximately three years.
She was born June 19, 1923, at Moatsville, a daughter of the late Willie A. and Catherine Hazel Shaffer Freeman.
She had never married.
Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Hugh (Hazel) Shaw, Belington, Mrs. James (Reta) Phillips, Philippi, Mrs. John (Nellie) Petrosian, Fresno, Calif., and Mrs. Carl (Nola) Hunt, Leavittsburg, Ohio; two brothers, Billie Freeman and wife, Pauline, Willis, Texas, and Lester Freeman and wife, Delores, Moatsville; two sisters-in-law, Kathryn Freeman, Moatsville, and Andrea Freeman, Bridgeport; two brothers-in-law, Leon Talkington, Warren, Ohio, and William Benoit, Somers, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Ola Talkington, Ades Benoit and infant sisters, Violet and Grace Freeman; and three brothers, Ernest D. Freeman, James Freeman and infant brother, Arnold Freeman.
Miss Freeman was a retired cook in the dietary departments of the Broaddus Hospital and former Myers Hospital. She had also briefly worked for a glass manufacturer. While able, Miss Freeman attended the Light of Christ Chapel in Belington. While a resident of the Baughman Towers, she attended worship services and enjoyed bingo at the Towers.

Perlina J. Freeman
Perlina J. Nestor Freeman, 92, a resident of Broaddus Long Term Care, Philippi, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, in the long-term care facility, following an extended illness.
She was born June 10, 1910, at Moatsville, a daughter of the late George W. and Anise D. Poe Poling.
Her first husband, Ersel L. Nestor, preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1956. On Nov. 6, 1964, she was married to Darwin C. Freeman, who preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 1999.
Survivors include two daughters, Jerri and husband, Donald L. Jones, Scott Depot, and Wanda and husband, George J. Thompson, Belington; one stepson, James Edgar and wife, Jean Freeman, Moatsville; two sisters, Mary Marteney, Moatsville, and Dora Hathaway, Warren, Ohio; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Evelyn Grace Apperson; three sisters, Flossie Poling, Flora Barrett and Bonnie Wilson; and three brothers, Bill Poling, Andrew Poling and Wilbert Poling.
Mrs. Freeman was a former housekeeper, aide and laundress in the Myers Clinic Hospital. She attended the Souls Harbor Tabernacle.

Jack H. Freeze
Jack H. Freeze, 64, a resident of Route 4, Philippi, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2002, in the United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, following an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 21, 1937, in Grafton, a son of the late Paul E. and Ruth I. Bolyard Freeze.
He was united in marriage on July 17, 1997, to the former Melva L. Nutter, who survives.
Also surviving are his special dog and companion, Kelli; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Vivian and Ronnie Slonaker, Copley, Ohio, and Linda and Donald Lyons, Newburg; one brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Debbie Freeze, Lakeland, Fla.; one brother-in-law, Bill Moore, Thornton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a special friend to many people with the most special being Debra Hamerski of Philippi, who he referred to as his "daughter and side-kick." He was a proud countryman and served with the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1963, having served two years of his duty in Guam.
He was employed by United States Steel Corp. until his retirement in 1992. He was also employed by the U.S. Postal Service, a security guard for the U.S. Naval Warfare Center in Trenton, N.J., the Princeton Armored Truck Service in Princeton, N.J. He was also a painter and interior decorator for a number of years.
He was a member of the Jerusalem United Methodist Church in Philippi. He was a social member of the Grafton Veterans of Foreign Wars Association.

George W. Fridley
George W. Fridley, 66, of Route 1, Volga, and a former resident of Century No. 2, passed away at 12:05 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, following an extended illness.
He was born March 24, 1936, in Barbour County, a son of the late Clayton and Flora (Anderson) Fridley.
Surviving are three daughters and one son-in-law, Tammy Fridley, Century No. 2, Brenda and husband, David Richard, Belington, and Melissa Fridley, Century, No. 2; three sons and one daughter-in-law, George and wife, Christine, Fridley, Moatsville, Justin Fridley, Philippi, and Ronnie Wolfe, Grafton; one sister and brother-in-law, Wilda and husband, Carl Lanham, Galloway; one brother and sister-in-law, James and wife, Harriett Fridley, Century No. 2; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, John Wesley Fridley; and one sister, Roselee Fridley.
He retired as a roof bolter from P. & P. Coal Company. He was a member of Joseph Chapel Church.

Walter J. Fridley
Walter J. "Babe" Fridley, 85, of Westview Acres community, Buckhannon, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born Aug. 26, 1917, in Covington, Va., a son of the late George A. and Fannie Kimberlin Fridley.
He married Judy Hull Fridley, who survives in Buckhannon.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven children, Donna J. Branch of Tampa, Fla., Janice G. Smith of Lake Mary, Fla., Karen F. Tate and husband, Tommy, of Lake Mary, Fla., Terri L. Jones and husband, Larry, of Lost Creek, Barbara A. Strniste and husband, Pete, Granby, Conn., Gerald L. "Jerry" Fridley of Maitland, Fla., and Gayle J. Fridley of Richmond, Va.; seven grandchildren and two twin great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
He was a retired foreman after 34 years with Columbia Gas Co. He was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance and attended the Buckhannon Alliance Church.

Edna C. Friend, 89, of Amherst, Ohio, and formerly of Thomas, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, in Amherst Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Friends was born May 13, 1912, in Thomas, a daughter of the late George and Mona King Caplinger.
She married Hartsel Friend, who preceded her in death in 1981.
Surviving are a son, Don Friend, Lorain, Ohio; a daughter, Kathy Gibson, Lorain, Ohio; a sister, Ethel Brown, Monongah; and three stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Caplinger; and two sisters, Muriel Kelley and Mary Smith.
Mrs. Friend was a housewife. She was a member of Delaware Avenue United Methodist Church of Lorain, Ohio.

Frieda Fr·nquiz
Frieda Haynes Fr·nquiz, 94, of 52 Tahanto Trail, Harvard, Mass., died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at the Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley in Littleton, Mass.
She was born in Suffield, Conn., on Jan. 3, 1908, the daughter of the late Edward and Christine Doolittle Haynes, and was the wife of the late JosÈ A. Fr·nquiz.
She graduated from Keene, N.H., High School in 1926 and later attended nursing school at New England Deaconess Hospital. She also attended the University of Puerto Rico and West Virginia Wesleyan College, where she received a bachelor of arts degree in 1950.
She married JosÈ Fr·nquiz in Esenada, Puerto Rico, in 1933. They lived in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, for 10 years, where her husband was a professor of philosophy at the University of Puerto Rico. They later moved to Buckhannon where Dr. Fr·nquiz was a professor of philosophy at West Virginia Wesleyan College until he retired.
Mrs. Fr·nquiz was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she was a worthy matron and grand representative to Texas. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and a member of the Fred Brooks Bird Garden Club. Frieda was also a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, where she was secretary for seven years and received the Arc of Epsilon Pi.
After her husband’s death in 1975, she continued to live in Buckhannon. In 1991 she began living in Puerto Rico during the winter and living with her daughter in Harvard, Mass., during the summer. She became a member of the Congregation Church, UCC, in Harvard.
Mrs. Fr·nquiz is survived by her daughters, Arline Marteney, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Evangelical Congregational Church, Still River Road, Harvard, at 3 p.m. Nov. 24. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Heifer Project International at the NE regional office at 216 Wachusett St., Rutland, Mass. 01543. From 14 Nov 2002.

Jessie Virginia Fumerola, 93, of Warren, Ohio, and formerly of Buckhannon, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, in Imperial Nursing Home in Warren, Ohio.
Mrs. Fumerola was born Sept. 22, 1908, in Sutton, a daughter of the late Isaac Sanford and Levada Jane Kelley Douglas.
She married Quirico Quick Fumerola, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are five daughters, Betty Jean Coughlin and husband, Paul, and Barbara Jane Ware and husband, Robert, Oceanside, Calif., Mary Frances Leigh and husband, Stephen, Warren, Ohio, Margaret Ann Pingley and husband, Robert, Oceanside, Calif., and Virginia Lee Robinson and husband, Frank, Millville, N.J.; six sons, Dewey Lester Fumerola and wife, Mary Jean, Newton Falls, Ohio, William Charles Fumerola and wife, Hilda, Clinton Township, Mich., James Edward Fumerola and wife, Nelda, Champion, Ohio, Robert Joe Fumerola and wife, Sandy, Alamogordo, N.M., Quick Fumerola Jr. and wife, Karen, Farmdale, Ohio, and Leonard Paul Fumerola and wife, Arlene, Kinsman, Ohio; 42 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Roy Buster Fumerola; three sisters, six brothers, four grandsons and a granddaughter.

: Friends will be received at Tomblyn-Whitescarver Funeral Home Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Wednesday a prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
