Kanawha Valley Genealogy Society

The Kanawha Valley Genealogical Society was  organized the 16th of June 1977.  The founder of the society was Ruth Ann Gee, a librarian at West Virginia State College.  She was teaching a class on beginning genealogy for the Office of Continuing Education.  Along with members from this class, the Boone County Genealogical Society and twin brothers Dallas and Doval Ogden the society was born.  By October 1977 the society had 75 members and has grown to 380 members as of today. We are located in Room 205 of the Nitro Community Center at 21st Street and Second Avenue in Nitro, West Virginia.
