The Powys Family
History Society was formed in 1980, the society is a member of
Capel, the Welsh Chapels heritage society, the Federation
of Family History Societies and the Association
of Family History Societies of Wales.
Present day Powys is
an administrative county which was formed in 1974 at a time of
local government reorganisation. It comprises the historic counties
of Breconshire, Montgomeryshire and Radnorshire.
AIMS: The aims of Powys
FHS are to encourage the study of family history and, in so
doing, encourage the transcription and preservation and publication
of indexes relating to the records of Powys.
