We all have family members and loved ones that lived in Waushara County at one time. I would like to dedicate this page to them. Anyone wishing to send me a paragraph or two will be added to our special page.
JUDGE THOMAS HENRY WALKER - First Judge of Waushara County. My ggggrandfather was born 29 Nov 1814 in Dansville, Stueben County, New York. At the age of three he went with his parents to Canada and at the age of seven crossed the ocean to England. He married soon after his 21st birthday to Miss Elizabeth Sharritt, an English Lady and six children were born to them. He worked one year in a newspaper printing office and then engaged in the pottery business for about seven years. He was elected Chief Bailiff of Longton, Staffordshire, England for two years. In 1849 he returned to America and spent the winter in Dansville before coming to Wisconsin in the spring of 1850. He settled first at Juneau where he read the law in the office of Chas. Billinghurst. His wife Elizabeth died during their stay at Juneau and he came to Plainfield and settled on a farm where he lived until his death 5 Jul 1894.
For approximately 50 years, my relatives lived in Waushara Co. WI.My gr gr grandparents were:
ERNST F. SCHNEIDER AND ANNA ROSINA RATHMAN SCHNEIDER
1817 -June 12, 1869.............................. Sept 1, 1826 - April 20, 1904
Anna Rosina Rathman Schneider married 2nd after Ernst died, Ferdinand Meinke. Came to county in 1852. Children of Ernst and Anna Rosina Schneider , Alvina (married August Behm, then Carl Miller), Ernst F. (Jr.); Gottlieb (married Louisa Fedtke), Otellie (married Herman Granner), Louis (married Bertha Clocksin), Lydia (married Julius Zahn), Laura (married Herman Clocksin) and Emma (married August Ernst Doeringsfeld.
