The OBERHEU surname has been added to the SURNAME page. This year, during the annual Stone House Tour in Cedarburg, a home once owned by Dr. Theodore Hartwig was featured. I transcribed 2 letters written by Dr. Hartwig describing his journey to America and his arrival in Cedarburg. They were found at the University of Wisconsin Digital Collections and are placed on the FAMILY page. I also added other houses featured on this year's tour with historic Cedarburg family connection to the FAMILY page in the "Photo" section. |

The December, 1890 edition of The Cedarburg News has been added to the NEWSPAPER "FRONT PAGE". An index to photos in the bicentenniel history of First Immanuel 1853-1953 has been added as a link on the LOOKUP page. |

A postcard of the high school in Port Washington was
added to the Ozaukee PLACE page. A postcard picturing a school in Saukville was added to the Ozaukee PLACE page. A link to the Dead Fred Genealogy Photo Archive was added to the RESOURCE page. You can search for unclaimed family photos by surname or location. On the FAMILY page, I've also posted Ozaukee County photos from the Dead Fred site. A few obituaries and news articles have been added to the FAMILY page. The BLANK & TEED surnames have been added to the SURNAME page. A postcard picturing St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran
Church, Grafton was added to the Ozaukee PLACE page. A link has been added to the Luxembourg American Cultural Society on the RESOURCE page. If you are in the area, please visit their new Research Center in Belgium, Wisconsin which is scheduled to open March 1, 2008. This is the largest center for doing Luxembourg genealogy and research in the US. It includes materials pertaining to Luxembourg immigrants and their descendants from throughout the US. The center also invites people to donate family histories, family group sheets, etc. to expand the LACS collection. The LACS is also currently building the Luxembourg American Cultural Center in collaboration with Luxembourg's Ministry of Culture. The Cultural Center will feature the Roots and Leaves Museum (portraying Luxembourg past and present and Luxembourg heritage/culture from throughout the US), Wellkomm Centre featuring the Luxembourg American Family Tree (a wonderful sculpture coming from Luxembourg), and an Administrative building with gift shop/book store, rooms for the new Research Center, Luxembourg language class, etc. A link to a transcription of the passenger list of the ship Silvanus Jenkins (part of the Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild) with names of some Ozaukee County families has been added to the FAMILY page. Thanks, Methuria, for letting me know. Carol Boettcher has contributed her transcription of St. Joseph's Cemetery in Grafton to the CEMETERY page. Although not quite complete, it does contain all of the older section of the cemetery. Carol also transcribed an article published in the Milwaukee Sentinel in May, 1870 reporting on a meeting in Cedarburg about the Northern Railway. This is has been placed on the PLACE page. newspaper have been added to the NEWSPAPER "FRONT PAGE". Postcards picturing the C. M. & St. Paul Train Station and one picturing the M.E. Church on Portland Avenue both in Cedarburg were added to the Ozaukee PLACE page. The SAUER surname has been added to the SURNAME page. I have indexed two books, "Port Washington Centennial: 1835 - 1935" and "Fredonia, Wis. Centennial: 1874 - 1974". Carol Boettcher is listed as a volunteer on the "LOOK UP" page, who is willing to do lookups in both books. |
