GILLEY & SPALDING, grocers, bakers and confectioners, Menomonie, was born
in Allegany County, New York, in 1845. He enlisted in the spring of 1863
in the 13th New York Artillery, afterward, served in the 6th Veteran
Artillery. After the close of the war he became a student of the Genesee
Wesleyan Seminary, at Lima, New York. He began preaching in 1867, in
connection with the Free Methodist Church. Went to Chicago in 1868. Was a
resident of Illinois for several years, engaged in preaching. He came to
Wisconsin in 1873. Had charge of churches in Grant and Lafayette counties.
He went to Eau Claire in 1875. He came to Menomonie in 1878. He is now
pastor of the Wesleyan Methodist Church in the town of Sherman. Is also
with his father-in-law, Mr. Spalding, engaged in business in Menomonie.
Married Nellie M. Spalding; born in Illinois. They have three children:
