SCOTT POSTON
Scott Morgan Poston, 62, of
hospital after a short illness. A life long resident of
a son of the late Hufford and Vivian Bruch Poston. He was a retired
florist and member of the First Baptist Church of Princeton. He was a
member of the Princeton Elk's Lodge No. 1459, Princeton Post of the VFW,
and a commissioner with the Princeton Fire Department's Civil Service
Commission. He served as an ensign in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He
was
preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Bird Poston, and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Swim Poston; three sons, John W.
Poston of Princeton, Stephen B. Poston of Bluefield, and Scott M. Poston,
Jr. of Tazewell; four daughters, Mrs. L.M. (Betsy) Carter of Clifton Forge
Va, Mrs. H. Phil (Lucile) Burkes of Covington Va.,
Christine Ella Poston
of Clarkston GA and Virginia L. Poston of Princeton; one step daughter,
Mrs. Dennis W. (Drema G.) Perry of Martinez GA; one
brother, Manning H.
Poston, Jr. of
were conducted Wed. May 12 at
Burial followed in
ALFRED MARRS
Alfred Opie Marrs, 51 of
May 8 at his home after an apparent heart attack. Burn in Horsepen, he
was a son of the late Ethel Dye Marrs and Daniel W. Marrs. Survivors
include two brothers, Daniel Whitt Marrs Jr. of
Bluefield, VA, and John
Elson of Horsepen; three
sisters, Mrs. Cecil (Ruby) Tabor of Wilmington,
DE, Mrs. Leslie (Gladys) Williams of Abbs Valley, and
Mrs. Otis (Edith)
VanDyke, of Pilgrims Knob, VA.; one half-sister,
Betty Horne of Buchanan
County. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, May 11 at
Orville B. Cox. Burial followed in
MRS. LASSIE HANKINS
Mrs. Joe Ed. (Lassie) Hankins, 89, of
in an Abingdon nursing home after a long illness.
Born in
was a member of the
surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors include three sons,
Garnett Hankins of Abingdon, Angus Hankins of Gettsburg PA, and Peery
Hankins of N. Tazewell. 21 Grandchildren and a host of
great
grandchildren and great great grandchilden.
She was preceded in death by
her husband and one son. Funeral services were conducted Monday, May 10,
at
Sargent officiating. Burial followed in the
Fork.
KYLE ATKINS
Kyle Atkins, 55 of
May 9, at his residence after a short illness. He was preceded in death
by his father, his wife, Mrs. Sylvia Atkins, and one brother, Charles
Atkins. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. India Atkins of Fort Thomas KY;
two daughters, India and Verna Atkins, both of Kansas City; one son, Kyle
Atkins Jr. of Mexico; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Robinette of Fort Thomas and
Mrs. Paul Turner of Pocahontas; one brother Clyde Atkins, of Kansas City.
