WOODROW P. WHITTAKER -- Woodrow Prentiss Whittaker, 38, died suddenly on December 28 at the home
of his niece, Mrs. Curtis Hall, in Radford.  His is survived by his widow, the former Miss Margaret Richardson; his mother, Mrs. M. H. Whittaker, of Tazewell; two daughters, Eleanor and Josephine, both of Dublin; six
brothers; M. L. of Tazewell; Henry of Bel Air, Md. C.H. of New Orleans, La. ; L. H. or Arlington, Va. S. C. of Bluefield; Sgt. T. H. Whittaker of the U. S. Air Force; four sisters, Mrs. C. G. Yost, Baptist Valley; Mrs.
Lilly Umberger, of Washington D. C.; Mrs. Spenser Bayes of Richlands and Mrs. C. H. Williams of Princeton.  Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at the home of M. L. Whittaker in Tazewell, the service being in charge of the Rev. Eustis Russian of Radford, assisted by the Rev. Ortie Bradshaw, pastor of the Tazewell Baptist Church.  Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery.  Pallbearers were nephews; Garland, Ernest, Raymond and Donald Whittaker, Kenneth and Ralph Yost.

JOE NEEL -- Joe Neel, 73 years of age, a widely known citizen of Thompson Valley, died at his home Sunday following a long illness.  His wife preceded him in death.  He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. H. M. Young, Thompson Valley and Mrs. T. E. George, of Tazewell; one sister, Mrs. Neson Groseclose, of Ceres; two brothers, Dr. w. O. Neal of Chatham Hill and E. R. Neal of Freestone Valley.  Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon.  The Rev. W. E. Mustard officiated.

THOMAS CRUEY -- Thomas Cruey died Monday at his home here.  He is survived by his wife and the following sons and daughters: Mrs. James Alley, Tazewell; Marshall Cruey, Tazewell; HOward Cruey, Bristol; Owen Cruey, of Tazewell and Miss Louise Cruey and Elmer Cruey at home.

HARRIETT BEAVERS TAYLOR -- Mrs. Harriett Beavers Taylor of Cliffield, died Saturday at her home.  She
leaves one brother, A. W. Beavers of Cliffield.  Funeral was held on Monday at the home by Rev. P. C. Foote, Rev. W. E. Mustard and Rev. Den Gillespie.  Burial in Beavers cemetery close by.  Nephews were
pallbearers.  Funeral was Monday at 2:30 P.M. Hurst-Scott had the funeral arrangements. 

RICHARD BOWMAN -- Richard Bowman, aged 28, of Horsepen, died Dec. 25 of injuries received in
an automobile acciden near Munson.  Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Horsepen Christian church.  Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery.  He is survived by his mother, Mrs. cora Bowman; four brothers; Marvin, Roy, Buddy, and Dewey, all of Horsepen; five sisters; Mrs. Alvin Bowman of Laurel Fork; Mrs. Frank Yates of North Tazewell; Mrs. Woods smith of Bluefield Va. and Mrs. Harold Fuller, of North Tazewell.

BESSIE DAVIDSON BANE -- Mrs. James W. Bane died at her home at White Gate, Va. on Monday evening,
Dec. 28. She was the former Miss Bessie Davidson and was born at Rocky Gap, June 28, 1882.  The fifth child of John Allen and Mattie Harman Davidson.  Two brothers survive her; William A. Davidson and Eugene Mr. Davidson of Rocky Gap.  She was a sister of the late Dr. J. J. Davidson and John Davidson of Rocky Gap and Miss Julia Davidson, former teacher in Tazewell and a younger brother, Doak Davidson of Bluefield.  She was a member of the Methodist Church and attended the Tazewell schools.  She taught for several years in the Bland county public schools.  On December 26, 1906 she was married to James W. Bane, of White Gate, who preceded her in death ten years ago.  To this marriage were born five children.  Dr. James E. Band of Springfield, Missouri; John D. Bane, deceased; Eugene M. Bane, Grundy, Va.; William D. Bane, White Gate and Mrs. George C. Peery Jr. of Tazewell.  Also surviving are ten grandchildren.  Funeral was held at the Walkers Creek Baptist Church and interment in the White Gate Cemetery on Wed. Dec. 30.
