You'll find an impressive array of records from Grayson County, VA and Ashe, Alleghany and Watagua Counties, North Carolina Counties in the Upper New River Valley on this excellent website. Jeff recently added the following items which may be particularly interesting to SMYTH COUNTY RESEARCHERS:
Mark's home page includes approximately 1000 names
. . . and it's still growing! The Smyth County families include BUCHANAN,
CAMPBELL, GRAHAM, CROCKETT, GILLESPIE, COX, WARD, BOWEN, TAYLOR, BARNS,
LAMMIE, STEELE, WILLS, ROSENBAUM, CARTER, CLARK, PORTERFIELD, SEXTON, HAYS,
and more. The research was started by his grandfather, Raymond Madison
Buchanan, Sr. of Rich Valley. Mark expanded his grandfather's research
using the book, Southwest Virginia Families, by David W. Trimble,
who interviewed Raymond Buchanan while writing the book. Mark is also adding
narratives using Smyth County History and Traditions by Goodridge
Wilson as a reference. If your family roots go back to Southwest Virginia,
Mark's homepage might have just what you're looking for! CHECK IT OUT!
