Last Rites for MRS. CARL ALESHIRE
Last rites were held at two o'clock Saturday afternoon, June 24th in the chapel of the Bradley Funeral Home for Mrs. Winifred Marie Aleshire, 35, popular young matron who was fatally injured in the three-car crash Sunday night, June 18th which also claimed the lives of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Vaughan, Jr. The Rev. O.L. Martin, pastor of the Luray Christian Church, officiated at the funeral services and interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Aleshire, the former Miss Winifred Marie Estep of Luray, was born in Page County on October 27, 1925 and was a daughter of the late Roy L. Estep and Anna B. Stinson Estep. She was a 1944 graduate of Luray High School and a member of the Luray Christian Church.
On July 9, 1945 she was united in marriage with Carl J. Aleshire of Luray and to this union were born twon daughters, Brenda Kay and Sharon Faye.

JAMES CARTHER ALESHIRE Dies
James Carther Aleshire, 71, of Luray, died at 8:30 p.m. Monday, October 14th, in the Newma Nursing Home in Grottoes where he had been a patient for nine months. He had not been in good health for several years.
He was born March 23, 1892 in Stanley and was the son of Manuel and Hester Nauman Aleshire. He married the former Rosetta Jenkins, who survives.
Besides his wife, Mr. Aleshire is survived by the following children: Mrs. Floyd (Mamie) Grandstaff, Mrs. Emmett (Nellie) Housden, Mrs. Kirby (Janet) Shenk and Howard Aleshire, all of Luray; Mrs. Earl (Mae) Lord, of Miami, Florida, Harry Aleshire, of San Francisco, California and Carl Aleshire, of Hagerstown, Md.; one sister Mrs. Carrie May, of Shenandoah; sixteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The Rev. Owen Preston conducted the funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Bradley Funeral Home. Burial was in the Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery.

JOHN WILLIAM “BUD” ALESHIRE Dies at 76
John William “Bud” Aleshire, 76, passed away in Staunton, Va., on Sunday, July 7th at 5:00 p.m. after being in failing health for several years.
Mr. Aleshire was a farmer and logger prior to his death.
He was born on May 8, 1887 at Stanley and was the son of the late Mac and Christina Mauman Aleshire/
He was united in marriage with the former Miss Ida B. Chrisman, who preceded him in death in 1938.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Evelyn V. Ramey, of Stanley; one sister, Mrs. Carrie Maye, of Shenandoah and one brother, Carthur Aleshire, of Luray.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 10th, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Bradley Funeral Home with the Rev. B.W. Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Graves Chapel Cemetery.

MARTIN LUTHER ALESHIRE Dies
Martin Luther Aleshire, 79, died at his home on Route 2, near Stanley at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, March 21. He had been in ill health for about four months prior to his death.
Mr. Aleshire, a native of Stanley, was born on May 4, 1884 and was the son of Charles T. and Mary E. Via Aleshire. He was employed as a carpenter and belonged to the Bethlehem Christian Church.
Mr. Aleshire, twice married, is survived by his second wife, the former Ruth May. His first wife, Stella Berry Aleshire, preceded him in death.
Besides his widow he is survived by three sons and two daughters: Everett, Willard and Melvin Aleshire, all of Stanley; Mrs. Beatrice Brown, of Orange and Rhoda Aleshire, of Luray. Also surviving are three brothers, Hollis, of Monrova, Md., William and Sylvester, both of Baltimore, Md., and a sister, Mrs. Miza Riddle, of Ellicott City, Md.
The last rites were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 24 at the Bethlehem Christian Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. O.L. Martin and The Rev. Jack Masquelier conducted the service.

MRS. MAUDE B. ALESHIRE Dies
Mrs. Maude Brown Aleshire, 84, of Stanley, died Wednesday, July 7, 1965, at 11:45 a.m., at Page Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for one week. Mrs. Aleshire had been in failing health for several years.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, July 9, at 11 a.m., from the Chapel of the Bradley Funeral Home, with Eld. Paul Schooley officiating. Interment took place in the Adventist Cemetery, in Stanley.
Born June 8, 1881, in Stanley, she was a daughter of the late George W. and Mary Susan Dinges Short.
Her husband I. Ashby Aleshire preceded her in death in 1930.
Surviving is one son, Kermit Aleshire, of Arlington, two grand-children and four great-grandchildren.

NELSON R. ALESHIRE
Nelson R. (Pete) Aleshire, 54, of Greencastle, Pa., died Wednesday, June 19 while he was attending an auction.
He was born March 31, 1914, in Page County and was a son of the late Hollis and Dora Southard Aleshire.
Mr. Aleshire had been employed as a truck driver by Rude Carrier Corporation and was a dealer in antique furniture.
He was a member of the Hedgesville Presbyterian Church and a veteran of World War II. He spent four years with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre of War.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Frances Wasson Aleshire, and one sister, Mrs. Eva Moreland of Bethesda, Md.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Brown Funeral Home in Greencastle by the Rev. Fester Couchman Burial was in Rosedale Cemetery.

Last Rites for MRS. VERNON ALESHIRE
Last rites were held on Thursday, July 30, at 2 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Chapel for Mrs. Vernon Aleshire who passed away at the Page Memorial Hospital on July 27 after a week’s illness.
Mrs. Aleshire was the daughter of the late Jacob G. and Virginia Ann Foster and was born at Luray on July 31, 1875, and at the time of her passing was only four days from being 89 years of age. She was united in marriage with Vernon F. Aleshire on August 11, 1907, who preceded her in death on March 5, 1960.
She was a member of the Luray Christian Church and was one of its oldest charter members.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and a daughter.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Nathan (Helen) Spitler, with whom she had made her home for about five years. One granddaughter, Mrs. Charles (Connie) Richardson, of Falls Church, and two great granddaughters. Two sisters, Mrs. Shelton Painter and Mrs. Luther Printz both of Luray and one brother, Frank L. Foster, of Manassas, Va.
The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, the Rev. O.L. Martin, assisted by the Rev. Owen Preston of the Mt. Zion Brethren Church with burial in the Mt. Zion cemetery.

MRS. ADA ANN ALGER Succumbs
Mrs. Ada Ann Alger, 90, of Stanley, died Friday evening at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Keyser.
She was the widow of Ernest Wilmer Alger who died in April, 1925. She had been in declining health for the last two years and in critical condition for the past two months.
Born November 22, 1873, she was the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Lucinda Foltz Huffman.
She was a member of St. Lukes Lutheran Church at Alma.
Besides her daughter, Mrs. Keyser, with whom she made her home, she is survived by one son, E.E. Alger, of Alexandria, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The body was moved from the Warren Kyger Funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Sunday to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church at Alma. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. at the church with the Reverend M.P. Lane in charge. Interment was in the Church Cemetery.
The following brothers preceded her in death; Donald L. Huffman, Ashby Huffman, Charles E. Huffman and William L. Huffman, Clark Huffman, Richard Huffman, Lloyd Huffman, Vernon Huffman, and Ray Huffman.

Death of CLAUDE S. ALGER
Claude Sylvester Alger, 50, of Luray, died Wednesday, July 21, 1965, at 2 a.m., at Page Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for only one hour.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 23, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Bradley Funeral Home with the Rev. O.L. Martin officiating. Interment will take place in Graves Chapel Cemetery.
Born October 28, 1914 in Stanley, he was a son of the late Early V. and Rebecca Good Alger. He was a member of the Bethlehem Christian Church. Prior to his death he was employed as an auto mechanic. Mr. Alger was also a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mary M. Stroop, whom he married on September 24, 1939.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons, Samuel, Donald, Noland, and Ray, all of Luray; three daughters, Anna, Betty and Dorothy Alger, all of Luray; three sisters, Mrs. William Spencer, of Skyesville, Md., Mrs. Clarice Orye, of Stanley and Mrs. Katie Lowe, of Luray. Two sons and one sister are deceased.

James Henry Alger, 77, a native of the Marksville section, near Stanley, passed this life at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday, January 2nd, in Saina Hospital in Baltimore, Md…
Born in Page County on July 5, 1885 he was a son of the late William Hardin Alger and Rebecca C. Pettit Alger. He was a farmer and was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church.
Mr. Alger was twice married, his first wife, the former Miss Bessie Jane Weakley, having preceded him in death. He is survived by his second wife, the former Miss Elizabeth C. Jenkins; one son, William Alger, of Baltimore, Md., and one daughter, Mrs. Virginia Brooks, of Stanley. One sister, Mrs. Carrie Triggs of Martinsburg, W.Va., also survives him as do two grandchildren, Emmett Brooks, of Pikesville, Md. and Mrs. June Burner, of Baltimore, Md., and six great grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters are deceased.
The Rev. Frank Riley officiated at the funeral services at eleven o’clock Saturday morning in the chapel of the Bradley Funeral Home. Burial was in Graves Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Lora Burner Alger of Media, Pa., died Monday afternoon, June 3 in Media, where she had been residing with a daughter, Mrs. Eva Neil Batty.

Mrs. Alger was born Feb. 26, 1880, in Overall, and was a daughter of the late Israel and Martha Ann Cullers Burner.
She had resided in Ranson, W.Va., for many years until going to Media, Pa. four and one half years ago, to make her home with her daughter.
She was a member of Zion Episcopal Church in Charles Town.
Her husband, Hubert A. Alger, is deceased.

MRS. MARION C. ALGER
Mrs. Marion Chrisman Alger of Rileyville, who had been a patient in the Page Memorial Hospital for two months and in failing health for the last six months succumbed at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, September 12.
She was born at Browntown, the daughter of the late John and Margaret Ferrell Chrisman on December 16, 1889. She was 76 years of age.
She married Martin Edward Alger on December 23, 1969. On April 5, 1961, Mr. Alger preceded his wife in death.
She was a member of the Rileyville Brethren Church.
Two sons, William and Rumsey Alger, both of Rileyville, five daughters, Mrs. Mary Rose, of Marshall; Mrs. Beulah Bowman, of Rileyville; Mrs. Margaret Ponn, of Front Royal; Mrs. Maxine Fristoe and Mrs. Madaline Shenk, both of Luray; 23 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, one brother, David Chrisman, of Bentonville, and one sister, Mrs. Nettie Cullers, of Bentonville, survive. Three sons, two daughters and five sisters are deceased.

Martin Edward Alger, 73, prominent farmer of the Compton section of Page County, died Wednesday, April 5th in the P.M. Hospital, where he had been a patient only a short time. He had been in failing health, however, for some time...
A son of the late Martin Alger and Barbara Stoneberger Alger, he was born in Page County on April 3, 1888. He was a member of the Rileyville Church of the Brethren.
On December 23, 1909 he was united in marriage with Miss Marion Chrisman, who survives him with five daughters, Mrs. Frank (Mary) Rose of Marshall, Va.; Mrs. Beulah Bowman of Rileyville; Mrs. Joseph (Maxine) Fristoe, Mrs. Rumsey (Madoline) Shenk and Mrs. William (Margaret) Ponn, all of Luray; three sons, William Alger, Rumsey Alger and Paul Alger, all of Rileyville, survive him as do 23 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two brothers, Hubert Alger of Ranson, W.Va. and George Alger of Bentonville, Va. Two sons and two daughters are deceased.

PAUL EDWIN ALGER Dies
Paul Edwin Alger, 42, died on Monday, August 16, 1965, at 1:30 p.m., at his home in Rileyville.
Born on May 3, 1923, he was the son of the late Martin Edward Alger and Marion Chrisman Alger, who survives.
He was married to the former Katheryn Petefish on March 1, 1946, who also survives.
The last rites will be held on Thursday, August 19, 1965, at 11 a.m., from the Chapel of the Bradley Funeral Home with the Rev. Blaine Blubaugh officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Alger was employed by the American Viscose Corporation of Front Royal at the time of his death.
He was a member of the Rileyville Methodist Church.
Besides his wife and mother, Mr. Alger is survived by a daughter, Juanita Kate Alger, of Rileyville, and two brothers, William and Rumsey Alger, both of Rileyville; five sisters, Mrs. Mary Rose, of Marshall; Mrs. Beulah Bowman, of Rileyville; Mrs. Margaret Ponn, of Front Royal; Mrs. Maxine Fristoe, of Luray; and Mrs. Madeline Shenk, of Luray. MRS. SYLVESTER N. ALGER SR. Succumbs
Mrs. Elva Foster Alger, 60, of Luray, died Monday of last week at 4:40 a.m. in the Winchester Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted from the Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, W.Va., by the Rev. Leland Wyatt of the Herndon Baptist Church. Burial took place in Arlington National Cemetery with the Rev. David Balcom of the Herndon Methodist Church officiating.
Mrs. Alger was born Sept. 24, 1904, the daughter of the late Edward and Alberta Baker Foster.
Her husband, the late Sylvester N. Alger Sr., preceded her in death in June, 1960.
She is survived by a son, Sylvester N. Alger Jr., of Herndon, Va., and a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Ruth Garrison, of Colonial Heights, Va., two brothers, John Foster, of Lime Kiln, Md., James Foster, of Newark, Del., two sisters, Mrs. Marie Pope, of Halltown, Md., and Mrs. S.V. Meadows, of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mrs. Alger was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Petersburg, Va.
Mrs. Alger and her husband, who was associated with the Civil Service, had traveled frequently from 1939 to 1942. For the last five years she had resided in Luray.

MRS. BERTHA ASH Dies In Ohio
Mrs. Bertha Ash, 81, a former Page County resident, died recently in Ohio. She had been an invalid for twelve years.
Mrs. Ash was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Seal, of near Stanley. She was twice married.
The following children survive: Rufus Stoneberger, of Luray, Carson Stoneberger, of Front Royal, and Junior Ash, of Ohio. Also surviving are six half brothers, Floyd Seal, of Luray, Raymond Seal, of Stanley and Amos, Oscar, Marvin and Millard Seal, of West Va., and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Three children, three brothers and a sister are deceased.
Funeral services were held in Ohio.

Brothers Die In Accident, Related in Page (DAVID & DEAN ATKINS)
Two brothers, David Garland Atkins, 16 and Dean G. Atkins, 17, of Dublin, Va., near Radford, Virginia, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Atkins of Dublin, Virginia, and grandsons of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Atkins of Luray, were among the six people killed in traffic accidents over the past week.
Dean Atkins was killed at 10 p.m. Saturday when the car in which he was riding and a dump truck crashed on U.S. Rt. 11 two miles south of Radford, Va. His brother, David died just 35 minutes later at the Radford Community Hospital. Dennis Atkins, 18, another brother, who was driving the car, received head injuries and was admitted to the hospital.
The boys were nephews of Mrs. Robert Griffith, Mrs. James Emrey, Mrs. Louise Thomas, and Mrs. Fulton Thurston, of Luray.

THOMAS F. ATKINS Succumbs
Thomas F. Atkins, 93, who resided on Reservior Avenue in Luray, passed away at the Page Memorial Hospital at 10 p.m., Friday, February 7, after being a patient there for one day...
A son of the late George N. and Elmira Pullen Atkins, he was born January 10, 1871 in Sperryville. Mr. Atkins, who was a farmer, was a resident at "Honeysuckle Glen" in Sperryville for seventy years prior to moving to Luray in 1961. His wife, the former Maggie F. Dodson, who he married December 26, 1893, preceded him in death August 31, 1963.
He is survived by three sons, J. Bradley Atkins and Hugh S. Atkins, of Sperryville and Herman B. Atkins, of Luray; two daughters, Mrs. Susie M. Raleigh of Luray and District Heights, Md., and Mrs. Margaret Campbell, of Sperryville; one brother, Joseph B. Atkins, of Sperryville, and two sisters, Mrs. Annie Woodward and Mrs. Mae Woodward, both of Sperryville. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Five children are deceased.
Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 9, in the Sperryville Cemetery with the Rev. E.W. Bradley officiating.

MRS. THOMAS F. ATKINS Dies at 86
Mrs. Maggie Fitzallen Atkins 86, passed away at the home of her son, Herman B. Atkins on Reservoir Road in Luray at 2:40 p.m. Saturday, August 31st. Mrs. Atkins, who had been in failing health for five years, moved to Luray on December 31st, 1961. Prior to that she lived at “Honeysuckle Glen” in Sperryville for 70 years.
She was the daughter of the late B.F. Dodson and Alberta Bruce Dodson and was born in Rappahannock County December 16th, 1876. She was a member of the Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church in Sperryville.
She and her husband, Thomas F. Atkins celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary December 26th, 1962. They were married in 1893.
Besides her husband, she is survived by the following children: J. Bradley Atkins, of Sperryville; Mrs. Susie M. Raleigh, of Washington and Luray; Herman B. Atkins, of Luray and Mrs. Margaret Campbell and Hugh S. Atkins, both of Sperryville. Five children are deceased. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Jac Earl Atkins, Tommie Atkins and Mrs. Clarice Hicks, all of Richmond; Robert F. Shumate, of Washington; Robert Atkins, of Penna.; Hugh S. Atkins and Mary Sue Atkins, of Sperryville; Mrs. Joe Henry Aylor, of Arlington, and Herman Wayne Atkins, of Madison College in Madison, Tenn.; and sixteen great grand-children.
The Rev. H.E. Nicholson conducted graveside services at 11 a.m. Monday, September 2nd in the Sperryville Cemetery.

Death of EARL BATMAN, SR.
Earl Raymond Batman, Sr., 65, of Luray, died suddenly at his home on Tuesday morning, after suffering a heart attack.
Born at Shenandoah on May 8, 1898, he was a son of David Henry and Anna Strickler Batman. He was a member of the Shenandoah EUB Church.
Mr. Batman was employed at Batman Pontiac in Shenandoah.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Henshaw Batman.
Also surviving are: five daughters, Mrs. Ollie Fischer, Mrs. Edith Argeon, Mrs. Margie Haney, and Mrs. Lucille Jenkins, all of Shenandoah; Mrs. Betty Gray, of Luray; two sons, Joseph R. and Earl R. Batman, Jr., both of Shenandoah; two brothers, Virgil and Julian Batman, both of Shenandoah; four sisters, Mrs. Ethel Beazley, of Newport News; Mrs. Marie Rogall, of Baltimore; Mrs. Louise Kinsey, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; Mrs. Minnie Powell, of Hagerstown, Md.; one half-brother, Jesse L. Batman, of Shenandoah, and 16 grandchildren.

BENJAMIN L. BEAGHAN
Benjamin Leroy Beaghan, 46, of Baltimore, Md., died Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Johns Hopkins Hospital after a lingering illness.
He was born Jan. 2, 1923 in Shenandoah, and was the son of John J. Beaghan and the late Willie Margaret Dorrough Beaghan. He had resided in Baltimore for the past 16 years and was an assembler at the Fisher Body Plant there.
He was a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Surviving besides his father, are his wife, Mrs. Vivian Kite Beaghan, four daughters, Gloria Jean, Carol, Linda and Diane Beaghan, all at home; two sons, Robert Lee and Michael Beaghan, both at home; two brothers, Sherwood Beaghan of Glen Burnie, Md., and John M. Beaghan, of Marlow Heights, Md., and five sisters, Mrs. Henry (Margaret) Hopf, of Spokane, Wash.; Mrs. Charles (Helen) Hanback of Chevy Chase, Md.; Mrs. Catherine Russell, of Falls Church; Mrs. Dorothy Shirkey, of Chesapeake, and Mrs. Walter (Peggy) Estes of Seat Pleasant, Md.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday from the Chapel of the Warren G. Kyger Funeral Home in Shenandoah by the Rev. Thomas Sutton. Burial took place in the Mt. Lebanon United Church of Christ Cemetery.

WILLIAM ALFRED BEAHM Dies
William Alfred Beahm, 87, of Luray, died Tuesday, April 6, 1965, at 6:00 a.m. at Page Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for one day. Mr. Beahm had been in ill health for the past year.

Mr. Beahm was a retired farmer and construction worker.
Born March 7. 1878, in Rileyville he was a son of the late Henry Alfred and Frances Wood Beahm. He was a member of the Rileyville Brethern Church.
Besides his wife, the former Miss Virgie M. Weaver, whom he married on December 31, 1902, in Luray, he is survived by one son, Robert W. Beahm, of Luray; one daughter, Mrs. Angeline Strickler, of Luray, and five grandchildren. Two sons preceded him in death.
Mr. Beahm was the last surviving member of his family.

MATTIE ANN BERRY
Mrs. Mattie Ann Berry, 67, of Stanley, died 8 a.m. Thursday, May 9, at the Page Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for three days. She had been in failing health for several years.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Bradley Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. G.A. Cave, the Rev. Calvin Stroupe and the Rev. O.L. Martin. Burial was in the Yager Cemetery.
She was born May 12, 1900 and was a daughter of the late Phillip and Lucy Thomas Jenkins. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church.
On Nov. 9, 1915, she married Benjamin F. Berry, who died Feb. 17, 1946.
Surviving are two sons, George L, Berry and William F. Berry of Stanley; one daughter, Mrs. Lucy Breeden of Luray; two brothers, Newton Jenkins and Son Jenkins of Stanley. One brother and three sisters are deceased.

MRS. ESTELENE P. BIRD Dies at 81
Mrs. Estelene Printz Bird, 81, who has been residing with her son, Frank, in Arlington, died in the Smithland Nursing Home at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 27th. She has been in failing health for about six months and was a patient in the nursing home for one month.
A daughter of the late Isaiah Printz and Ida Pence Printz, she was born in Stony Man near Luray, on July 10th, 1882. She was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church. Her husband, Frank W. Bird, Sr., preceded her in death in 1914.
She is survived by two sons, Frank Bird, of Arlington, and Gregory Bird, of Elkton, and the following brothers and sisters: Cecil Printz, of Sheridan, Indiana, Rex Printz, of Forreston, Illinois, Gene Printz, of Westville, Ohio, Mrs. J.T. Campbell and Mrs. John Stewart of Luray, and Mrs. Nathan Peterson, of Largo, Florida.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. James Smith Sunday, September 29th, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Bradley Funeral Home. Burial was in Green Hill cemetery.

Death of GEORGE R. BLAKEMORE
George Ralph Blakemore, 79, died Thursday, April 29, 1965, at 1 a.m. at his home in Stanley. Mr. Blakemore had been in ill health for the past year.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, May 1, at 2 p.m., from the Stanley Baptist Church with the Rev. Wyman Ramsey officiating. Interment was in Seekford Cemetery.
Born August 8, 1885, in Stanley, he was a son of the late Peter and Gaybrella Judy Blakemore. He was a member of the Stanley Baptist Church.
He had formerly been employed as a Blacksmith.
Besides his wife, the former Miss Molly Virginia Seekford, whom he married on July 5, 1911, he is survived by four sons; Rudolph, Paul and George H. Blakemore, of Stanley; Billy Blakemore, of Shenandoah; three daughters, Mrs. Vallie Cave, Mrs. Jeanette Pence and Mrs. Jean Blakemore, all of Stanley; 12 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one brother, Mode Blakemore, of Stanley. One son, two daughters, and one sister preceded him in death.

DAVID TIMOTHY BLOSSER Passes Away
David Timothy Blosser, 78, of Stanley, passed away after being in failing health for four years. His death occurred at 11:30 a.m., Sunday, December 5, 1965, at Page Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient only one day.
Mr. Blosser was born on July 5, 1887, in Stanley, the son of the late Timothy and Emma Comer Blosser. Prior to his death he was employed with the N and W Railroad Highway Department. He was a member of the Stanley S.D.A. Church.
He was twice married. His first wife, Emma Rogers is deceased. His second wife, Edna Mae Painter, is still living.
Surviving are five sons, Clifford, of Luray, Floyd, Preston, Edward and Raymond, all of Stanley; one daughter, Mrs. Calvin (Peggy) Bradley, of Stanley; nineteen grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and one half sister, Mrs. Frank Foltz, of Stanley. One son one daughter and two sisters are deceased.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, at the Stanley S.D.A. Church with Elder C.A. Schram officiating, with interment in the church cemetery.

Death of SUSAN H. BOWARD
Mrs. Susan H. Boward, 81, of Hagerstown, Md., widow of James W. Boward, died at the King's Daughter's Hospital in Martinsburg, West Virginia, Wednesday, May 29th, at 4:30 a.m. following a long illness.
Mrs. Boward had been a patient in the Airley Heights Nursing Home for a number of years.
Born near Stanley, she was the daughter of the late John and Eva Anne Aleshire Purdham. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren and the last surviving member of her family.
Funeral services were held in the Rest Haven Funeral Chapel at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon with her pastor, the Rev. Donald Jordan officiating. Burial took place in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

MISS RUTH P. BRADLEY Dies
Miss Ruth P. Bradley departed from life on Monday, December 6, 1965, at 2:45 p.m. after being in failing health for several years. She had been staying at the Mountain View Home for eighteen months. She was 66 years of age.
She was born to the union of the late Isaac C. and Peoria Freeze Bradley on March 9, 1899, in Luray. He father was the founder of the Bradley Funeral Home.
Miss Bradley was a graduate of Elizabeth College in Salem, Va., and the Williams School of Expression at Ithaca, N.Y. She had worked in the office of former Congressman Thomas Stanley in Washington, D.C. and retired in 1958 from the Post Office Department. She had also been employed by the War Production Board.
She was a person of genial personality. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Her main hobby was painting and was a very talented artist.
Miss Bradley is survived by her step-mother, Mrs. Lucille Bradley; one brother, Amos E. Bradley and one sister, Mrs. Denver F. Aleshire Sr., both of Luray.
A funeral service was conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, by the Rev. Ralph Hoffmeyer from the Chapel of the Bradley Funeral Home. Her body was laid to rest in Green Hill Cemetery.

Brother of HARRY O. BRADLEY Dies (WILLIAM FRANKLIN BRADLEY)
William Franklin Bradley, 74, of Inwood, West Virginia, brother of Harry O. Bradley, of Luray, died at the Newton D. Baker Hospital on February 20th, after a long illness. He was a prosperous farmer until about three years ago when he retired from the farm and moved to Inwood. He was born and raised in Page County.
He was the son of the late Elder W.H. and Emma Shenk Bradley.
Mr. Bradley was twice married, his first wife being the former Frances Adkins, by whom he had one daughter, Mrs. Sue Shokey. His second wife was Annie Brinker, of Charles Town, who survives him with five children, who are all married. He is also survived by two brothers and a sister.

Mrs. Bessie Verlie Bradley, 74, of Route 2, Luray, succumbed at 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, in the Page Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for two hours.
Born in Rappahannock County on August 13, 1892, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Lucinda Jenkins.
She was a member of the Regular Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, J. Mervie Bradley, three sons, Johnny, Robert and Lynwood Bradley, all of Luray, three daughters, Mrs. Irene Buchanan, of New Market, Mrs. Annie Keith, of Miami, Fla., and Mrs. Gladys Shenk, of Luray; 32 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, one brother, Clarence Jenkins, and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Berry and Mrs. Mamie Judd, both of Luray. Three sons, three daughters, one brother and four sisters are deceased.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, from the Chapel of the Bradley Funeral Home with the Reverends Paul W. Walters and John I. Bradley in charge. Burial took place in the Morning Star Cemetery.

Grover Cleveland Breeden, 77, of near Shenandoah, died at 7:35 Wednesday morning, May 22nd at the Rockingham Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient three weeks. He had been in declining health for several years.
A son of the late James M. and Lola Davis Breeden, he was born in Greene County, August 21st 1885, but had spent most of his life here. He was a member of the Oak Grove E.U.B. Church and Verbena Lodge 42 of the IOOF.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Elsie Leigh Turner December 1961.
He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. John (Willie) Sampson, and Mrs. Frank (Virginia) Good, of Shenandoah; Mrs. Louis (Nellie) Morris and Mrs. Leroy (Hazel) Morris, of Concord, N.C., and Mrs. Amos (Aline) Davis of Chattanooga, Tenn., one son, Raymond Breeden, of Shenandoah; one brother, Robert O. Breeden and one sister, Mrs. Mamie Comer, both of Shenandoah; thirty-five grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren.
The body was removed from the Warren G. Kyger Funeral Home to the Oak Grove E.U.B. at 1:30 p.m. Friday, where funeral services were conducted at 3 o’clock by his pastor, the Rev. R.D. Fawley and Rev. John W. Henderson… Burial took place in the George Comer Cemetery.

Judson C. Breeden, 93, a native and lifelong resident of Page County, died Sunday afternoon at four o’clock in a Staunton hospital.
Mr. Breeden was born May 19, 1865, a son of the late Thomas Sidney and Harriet Breeden. He formerly resided in the No. 2 Furnace section and more recently had lived at Stanley.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Lillie Meadows, of Route 1, Elkton and a number of nieces and nephews. Nine sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning at eleven o’clock from the Jolliett’s Methodist Church. The Rev. Robert Martin had charge of the services. Burial was in the Jolliet’s Cemetery.

Marion Victor Bundy, 79, of Luray, died at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 5, at the University of Virginia Hospital where he had been a patient for five days.
A native of Luray, he was the son of the late Clay and Frances Hughes Bundy. Prior to his death, he was employed by Campbell’s Plumbing Company.
Mr. Bundy was twice married. Both of his wives preceded him in death. His first wife was the former Bertha Cyrus and the second was the former Dora Butler.
Mr. Bundy is survived by one son, Elgie Bundy, of Winchester; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Green, of Luray; and Mrs. Esiie Riggens, of Braddock, Pennsylvania.

In 1910 she was united in marriage with Emmett Buracker who preceded her in death on July 13, 1943.
Mrs. Buracker is survived by five sons, Carl Buracker, Trenton Buracker, George Buracker, Dewey Buracker and John Buracker and three daughters, Mrs. Lucy Weaver, Mrs. Elizabeth Weaver and Mrs. Vada Campbell, all of Luray. Two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Berry of Stanley and Mrs. Lizzie Broyles of Kearneysville, W.Va.; two brothers, Son Jenkins and Newton Jenkins of Stanley, also survive her as do seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Harrison Buracker, 70, of Stanley, died suddenly Saturday, May 1, 1965, at 9:30 a.m., on the street in Stanley.

Oscar M. Buracker, age 59, a farmer of Sperryville, died Thursday, February 6th in the University of Virginia Hospital.
Mr. Alger, a son of James P. and Betty E. Dodson Buracker, was born May 10, 1905 in Stanley. He was a member of the Bethlehem Christian Church. His wife, the former Stella Breeden, is deceased.
Surviving are his step-mother, Mrs. Emma Buracker; two daughters, Ethel Buracker and Iva Buracker, of Sperryville; two sons, Kinzy Buracker and Cecil Buracker, also of Sperryville and the following step-children, Mrs. Bernard Jenkins and Russell Cave, both of Sperryville. His wife, the former Catherine Hurt, died April 12, 1958.

Raymond Francis Burker, 85, of Rt. 2, Boonsboro, Md., died Saturday, May 18, at the Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, Md., after a brief illness.

He was a member of the Calvary Temple of Williamsport, Md., a World War I veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 152 of Hagerstown.

Mrs. Burner was born in Luray, December 7th, 1919 and was the daughter of Hubert J. and Sina Holmes Hilliard. She was a graduate of Luray High School in the class of 1937 and was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church.
On October 1st, 1938 she was united in marriage with Arnold F. Burner, who survives. They moved from Luray to Alexandria in 1952. She was employed with the White Motor Company and Woodhouse Stationary in Washington, D.C. for five years. Her husband is a funeral director with the Cunningham Funeral Home in Alexandria.
She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert J. Hilliard, of Stanley; four children, Mrs. Douglas Tabor, of Austin, Texas; Judith A. Burner and Franklin and Gregory Burner, of Alexandria; four grandchildren; and the following brothers and sisters: Holmes H. Mr. Campbell, who retired from the ministry after suffering a stroke in 1948, had been in very good health in recent years and his death came as a shock to his family and friends…
Mr. Campbell served as pastor of Mt. Carmel Regular Baptist Church in Luray and Smith Creek Regular Baptist Church in New Market for about 30 years… He was a member of the Luray Lodge of Masons.
Mr. Campbell was born in Luray on February 20, 1880 and was a son of the late John W. Campbell and Mary Ellen Purdham Campbell. He was united in marriage with Miss Lula F. Painter on July 24, 1902 and to this union eight children were born, six of whom survive. Surviving are his widow and the following children: Leo M. Campbell, Virgil L. Campbell, Emmett C. Campbell, Burnam W. Campbell and Edward T. Campbell, all of Luray, and J. Lewis Campbell, of New Market. Three sisters, Mrs. Irvin Campbell, of Luray, Mrs. John Foltz, of Stanley, and Mrs. Ada Freeze, of Shenandoah, also survive as do ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. One son, one daughter, two brothers and two sisters are deceased.
Last rites conducted by Elder E.W. Bradley and Elder Wayne Thompson in the chapel at the Bradley Funeral Home Monday afternoon at two o’clock, were attended by a large crowd of sorrowing friends and relatives… Interment took place in Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery.

GEORGE (COP) CAMPBELL Dies
George W. (Cop) Campvell, 74, well-known Luray citizen, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 23rd at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Raymond Good, of Luray, after being in failing health for one year.
Mr. Campbell was born in Page County on October 12, 1885 and was a son of the late Mrs. Louise Campbell. He was united in marriage with Miss Ruth Viands, who survives.
He is also survived by one son, Julian A. Campbell of the U.S. Navy, currently stationed at Norfolk, Va.; and three daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Jean) Good of Luray; Miss Alice L. Campbell of Baltimore, Md. and Mrs. Robert (Lois J.) Yackel of Drexel Hill, Penna. One sister is deceased.
Funeral arrangements had not been completed at the time of going to press, however the services will be held in the chapel at the Bradley Funeral Home with interment in Beahm's Chapel Cemetery.

MRS. HOMER W. CAMPBELL Dies
Mrs. Ida Campbell, 72, died Tuesday evening, March 26th at 3 p.m. at the Page Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for over a week.
Mrs. Campbell was born April 1, 1890 in Page County, where she spent her entire life. She was the daughter of the late William Lucas and Viola McCoy Lucas and was a member of the Dovel Hollow Pentecostal Church.
She is survived by her husband, Homer W. Campbell and the following children: Mrs. Lucille Cubbage and Mrs. Margie Stoneberger, both of Stanley; Mrs. Helen Williams of Shenandoah; Floyd Campbell and Lloyd Campbell, both of Stanley. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Myrtle Lucas of New Market, Mrs. Mabel Cubbage, Georgie Lucas, Fred Lucas and Leonard Lucas, all of Stanley. The following half brothers and sisters also survive: Joe Lucas, Albert Lucas, Mrs. Florence Dallas and Mrs. Etta Lucas, all of Stanley and Raymond Lucas of Luray.
The funeral service will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Dovel Hollow Church with Rev. P.A. Freed officiating. Burial will be in the family cemetery.

HUBERT CAMPBELL Dies at 73
Hubert Lee Campbell, 73, of the Furnace Road section near Luray, died at 9:00 p.m., Friday, March 15th, in the Page Memorial Hospital after being in failing health for the past six months…
Born in Page County on May 2, 1889 he was a son of the late Robert Campbell and Susan Purdham Campbell. He was a retired Norfolk and Western Railroad worker and a member of the Pentecostal Church.
Mr. Campbell was married to Miss Mamie Smelser, who survives him with six sons, Paul and Willie Campbell, of Shenandoah; Mohler C. Campbell, of Alexandria; Robert S. Campbell and Franklin H. Campbell of Luray and Ralph L. Campbell of Richmond, and two daughters, Mrs. Louise Cash and Mrs. Catherine Campbell of Luray. One brother, Frank Campbell, of Shenandoah, and 23 grandchildren also survive.
The Rev. Crawford officiated at the last rites at two o’clock on Monday afternoon in the chapel of the Bradley Funeral Home. Burial was in Beahms Chapel Cemetery.

MRS. MAMIE S. CAMPBELL Dies
Mrs. Mamie Smelser Campbell, 72, of Luray, widow of Hubert L. Campbell, passed away at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9th, in the University of Va. Hospital, Charlottesville, Mrs. Campbell had been in failing health for several years.
She was born on May 29, 1891 in Stanley, the daughter of the late Sam Smelser and Savilla Stoneberger, and was a member of the Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death on March 15, 1963 by her husband, Hubert L. Campbell.
Surviving are the following children: Paul D. Campbell, Willie J. Campbell, Mrs. Louise Cash and Catherine Campbell, all of Shenandoah; Robert S. Campbell, Hubert F. Campbell and Ralph L. Campbell, all of Luray and Clarence Campbell of Alexandria. Also surviving are the following half brothers and half sisters, Claude and Dexter Smelser of Stanley; Mrs. Annie Cubbage and Maggie Smelser of Stanley and Mrs. Eveline Grimsley of Shenandoah.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 12th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Crawford officiating. Burial was in Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery.

Death of MRS. MARY CAMPBELL
Mrs. Mary Susan (Sudie) Campbell, 80, of Luray, died Wednesday, January 27, at 8:00 a.m., at the Nowman Nursing Home in Grottoes. Mrs. Campbell had been in failing health for the past year.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 29, at 2:00 p.m., from the Chapel of the Bradley Funeral Home with the Rev. O.L. Martin officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Born May 28, 1885, in Luray, she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Elizabeth E. Wright Duncan. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. Her husband, Hubert L. Campbell, preceded her in death in 1923.
She is survived by two sons, Thurman L. and Page D. Campbell, both of Luray; and one sister, Mrs. Emma Price, of Missouri. One son, Donald, was killed in World War II.

MRS. WM. T. CAMPBELL
Mrs. Corinne Comer Campbell, 62, of New Market, died Friday evening of last week in Miller’s Nursing Home at Woodstock. On Oct. 16, 1926, she was married to William T. Campbell, of Luray and New Market, who survives.
She was born May 6, 1905, at New Market and was a daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Maude Comer.
Mrs. Campbell was a member of Reformation Lutheran Church in New Market.
Surviving besides her husband is one sister, Mrs. Marie Whitmore, of New Market.
The funeral was conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Reformation Lutheran Church by the Rev. Lewis O. Dasher. Burial took place in the St. Matthews Cemetery at New Market.

Mrs. Lena Golden Bundy Carter, 74, of Luray, died at 3:00 a.m. Saturday, November 23rd in the Page Memorial Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late William H. and Viola Carpenter Bundy and was born Sept. 28, 1889. Her husband, Clyde E. Carter, preceded her in death. She was a life resident of Page County.
A member of the Bethel Baptist Church, Mrs. Carter was a devoted church worker...
Mrs. Carter is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Williams, and Mrs. Ella Frye, both of Luray, Mrs. Helen Lacey, of Indianapolis, Ind., and Mrs. Annie Hoagland, of Mansfield, Ohio; four sons, James and Clyde, of Luray, Herman of Indianapolis, Ind., and Luther, of Brandywine, Md.; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Tutt, of Falls Church and Mrs. Florence Tutt, of Luray; five brothers, Edward, James, Luther and Henry, of Luray and George Bundy, of New York; thirty- four grandchild and twenty-two great grandchildren. Four children are deceased.

CHARLES A. CAVE
Charles Alexander Cave, 79, a retired employee of the Mason Force of the Norfolk and Western Railroad Company, died at his home on Rt. 1, near Shenandoah, at 5 o’clock Saturday evening. December 23. He had been ill for the past five weeks.
Born January 23, 1888, he was the son of the late Bud and Louise Comer Cave, and had spent his entire life in this section.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Fellie Grimsley Cave, in October 1922, and a sister, Mrs. Regina Frances Grimsley on December 17, 1967.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Tommy (Virginia Pearl) Grimsley, Mrs. Howard (Arbutus) Comer, of Shenandoah, and Miss Loretta Cave, at home, two sons, Joseph Cave, of Luray, and Charles L. Cave, of Shenandoah; fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted from the chapel of the Warren G. Kyger Funeral Home Tuesday, at 2 p.m. with his pastor, the Rev. William C. Robertson officiating… Burial took place in the Sam Comer Cemetery near Shenandoah.

Mrs. Dora Cornelia Cave, 79, widow of C. Milton Cave, died at 3:00 a.m. Monday, January 13, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Marvin Shenk, of Luray. Mrs. Cave had been ill for a year.
Born November 24, 1884, at Luray, she was the daughter of the late Liza Jane Richards. She was a member of the Church of the Brethern.
She is survived by two sons; Luther and Lowell Cave of Luray; three daughters, Mrs. John D. Osborne, of Falls Church, Mrs. Marvin Shenk and Mrs. Linda E. Jenkins, of Luray. She is also survived by a half brother, Everett Campbell, of Hagerstown, Md., a half-sister, Mrs. Lizzie Hughes, of Luray, and two sisters, Mrs. Esta Jenkins of Luray, and Mrs. Bertha Stoneberger, of Hagerstown.
Funeral services were conducted from the chapel of the Bradley Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, with the Rev. Ridenour officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Death of FRED WILLIAM CAVE
Fred William Cave, 78, of Route 2, Stanley, passed this life on Friday, December 3, 1965 at 2 p.m. in the Page Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for one week. Mr. Cave had been in failing health for several years.
Born October 20, 1887, in Stanley, he was the son of Calvin H. and Julia A. Lucas Cave, who preceded their son in death.
Prior to his death and illness Mr. Cave was a farmer.
He was married to the former Mary Phillips who preceded her husband in death in 1948.
Four sons, Fred M. Cave, of San Francisco, California, Robert T. Cave, of Jewett City, Conn., Harry C. Cave, of Stanley, and Brice W. Cave, of Sandston; and two daughters, Miss Julia Cave, of Washington D.C., and Mrs. Louise Campbell, of Stanley, survive. Sixteen grandchildren also survive. Two sons are deceased.
Last rites were conducted by the Reverend Marvin Cave in the Chapel of the Bradley Funeral Home on Monday, December 6, 1965m at 2 p.m., with the final resting place in the Graves Chapel Cemetery.

George Washington Cave, 94, of Rt. Stanley died 8 a.m., Friday, April 18 at Page Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient 12 days. He had been ill two weeks.
A funeral services was conducted Monday at Bethlehem Christian Church by the Rev. O.L. Martin. Burial was in the Yager Cemetery.
Mr. Cave was born Dec. 20, 1874 in Madison County, and was a son of the late John and Mary Offenbacker Cave. He was a farmer and a member of Bethlehem Christian Church.
His wife, the former Maude Offenbacker, died in 1943.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Evidell A. Cave of Stanley; one brother, Gerd A. Cave of Shenandoah, and one sister, Mrs. Polly Richards of Madison. Two sons are deceased.

ISAAC HERBERT CAVE
Isaac Herbert Cave, 83, of Arlington, died Monday afternoon, May 29, at the Fairfax Nursing Home. He had been a patient there for three months and in ill health five months.
The funeral will be conducted by Rev. O.L. Martin (today) Thursday morning at 11 o’clock from the Chapel of the Bradley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graves Chapel Cemetery.
Born on June 30, 1883 in Stanley, he was a son of the late Perry and Edna Weakley Cave. He was a member of the Bethlehem Christian Church. Mr. Cave graduated from Dayton College and taught in various public schools prior to his illness.
His wife, the former Annie L. Owens, whom he married on May 29, 1908, is deceased. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Naomi Painter, Arlington, and one sister, Mrs. Artie Owens, Sterling; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. One son, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
