Lois J. Buff
Lois R. Jones Buff, 64, of Malvern, died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at her
residence. Born September 27, 1937, in Charlottesville, she was a daughter of
the late Robert Earl Jones.
Survivors include her mother, Delle Catherine Nicholson Jones of Madison, a
special friend, John Marshall of Madison; a daughter, Debra Catherine Buff
Sessions and husband, Thomas Gregory, of Winston Salem, North Carolina; a son,
Michael Patrick Buff of Gaithersburg, Maryland; a brother, Jerry Robert Jones
and wife, Laura, of Oak Park; two sisters, Gertha Jones Houston of Pratts and
Loretta Catherine Jones Brown of Madison; two grandchildren, Thomas Tyler
Sessions and Sydney Michelle Sessions and friend, Emmett M. Buff of Catonsville,
Maryland.
A funeral service will be held Friday, April 19, at 2 p.m. at Preddy Funeral
Home Chapel, Madison, with interment in Madison Memorial Gardens. Dr. Tommy
Palmer will officiate.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer

Squad, P.O. Box 868, Madison, Virginia 22727.
Winnie B. Gray
Winnie Bernice Gray, 91, of Stanley, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at Oak
Springs Manor in Warrenton. Born October 4, 1910, in Madison County, she was a
daughter of the late John Wilson Lohr and Eliza Hicks Lohr. She was a homemaker
and a member of the Church of the Gospel. Mrs. Gray was preceded in death by her
husband, William Otis Gray.
Surviving are eight sons, Samuel Chauncey, David Daniel, John Herbert, and
Benjamin Wesley Gray, all of Stanley, Thomas Nelson Gray, Hudson Falls, New
York, James Robert and Rufus Otis Gray, both of Warrenton and Joseph William
Gray of Madison; a daughter, Lois Wyant of Manassas; a brother, Wing-field Lohr
of Radiant; 25 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a
step-great-grandchild.
Thomas West and Lonnie Wyant conducted funeral services on Tuesday at Bradley
Funeral Home, Luray, Interment was in the Gray family cemetery in Stanley.
James F. McDaniel, Sr.
James Franklin McDan-iel, Sr., 66, of Madison, died Wednesday, April 10,
2002, at his home. Born April 14, 1936, in Wolftown, he was a son of the late
Claude and Effie Breeden McDaniel.
Survivors include a son, James Franklin McDaniel, Jr. of Madison; four
daughters, Wanda Carpenter, Brenda Weakley, Rose Marie McDaniel and Melissa
Lamb, all of Madison; two stepchildren, Jamie Lamb and Elijah Lamb; two
brothers, Lewis McDaniel of Madison and Carroll McDaniel of Burkeville; seven
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a special friend and companion,
Barbara Lamb.
A funeral service was held at Ryan Funeral Chapel, Quinque, Pastor Ronnie Sipes
officiating. Interment was in Rose Park Cemetery, Wolftown.
