Marshall H. Knighting
Marshall Holland Knighting, Sr., 80, of 133 Painters Wood Road, Luray, died Friday, March 15, 2002, in Luray.
Mr. Knighting was born Aug. 16, 1921, in Elkton, and was the son of the late Jason Andrew Knighting and Ella Rae Knighting.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a self-employed fence erector.
On Dec. 3, 1943, he married the former Ethel Arminda Painter, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Marshall Holland Knighting Jr. of Lacey Spring, Arthur Andrew Knighting of Rixeyville, and Chester David Knighting, of Luray; a sister, Wilda Billhimer of Elkton; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pastor Kent Bennett will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m. Sunday at Newport Church of the Brethren. Burial will be in the Painter family cemetery in Stanley.
The family will receive friends at the Chester Knighting residence this evening. Friends may register from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray.
