Campbell County was established in 1782 from Bedford County.  The county was named for Revolutionary War hero, General William Campbell, who is known for the 1780 Battle of King's Mountain.

If you're not finding your ancestors in our Campbell Co. information - it may be that they were in a part of the county that was broken off to form a new county.  Keep that fact in mind as you do your research.  Depending on the year -- you may have luck finding your ancestors in the records of another county.  Use the "Shortcuts To Neighboring Counties" links above to see what resources the other county has to offer.
