| Named for the duchy of Brunswick-Lineburg, one of the German possessions of King George I. It was formed in 1720 from Prince George but, because of the sparse population, county government was not organized until 1732. In the latter year Brunswick was enlarged by the addition of parts of Surry and Isle of Wight. Its area is 579 square miles, and the county seat is Lawrenceville. | |||||
| In March and April, 1996, a group of genealogists organized
the Kentucky Comprehensive Genealogy Database Project. The idea was to provide
a single entry point for all counties in Kentucky, where collected databases
would be stored. In addition, the databases would be indexed and cross-linked,
so that even if an individual were found in more than one county, they could
be located in the index.
In June, as the Kentucky Project was coming to completion, it was decided to create this page for all states, establishing the USGenWeb. Volunteers were found who were willing to coordinate the collection of county pages for a state page. If you would like to contribute your data or create a county page within a given state, please contact the person responsible for maintaining your state page. Data contributed to this VAGenWeb site must comply with Fair Use and copyright practices. Documents contributed to the USGenWeb and VAGenWeb remain the property of the contributors; however, files can not be removed from the Archives after they have been contributed. |
