GIBSON, Lester Daniel, 76, of Troutville, passed away Monday, June 16, 1997 at the Veteran's Medical Care Center in Salem. Mr. Gibson served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Lyla C. Gibson; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Janet Gibson, Troutville; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Gary Mills, Hardy; grandsons, Bryan D. Gibson, Roanoke, Mark A. Gibson and wife, Karen, Norfolk; sisters, Stella Thomas, Juanita Moore, both of Roanoke, Hazel Crowder
and husband, Earl, Troutville; three great-grandchildren, Leslie, Christine and Michael; special nephew, Corky Crowder, Troutville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Disabled American Veterans, P. O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250-0301. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday in Troutville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Simpson-Tharp Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Rd. (366-0707)
