CEDAR CITY--Mrs. Phoebe Wood Bergstrom, 73, died Saturday of pneumonia.
She was born Jan. 28, 1859 in Cedar City, a daughter of George and Mary
Davis Wood.
On Feb. 3, 1886, she married Olaf P. Bergstrom, who died five years ago
on their wedding anniversary. To them were born six children; two boys,
Edward and Washington, born on Washington's birthday, died in their youth.
She was a charter member of the Cedar City Service Star legion and has
been an active member. She also took an active part in the Red Cross work
during the World war.
Mrs. Bergstrom was a staunch Church member. When 11 years old she
joined the Relief society and besides serving as teacher the greater part
of her life, she was chairman of the quilt committee for 20 years.
Surviving are four children: Dr. J. W. Bergstrom, Wilford, Henry and
Mary, all of Cedar City; and the following brothers and sisters:
Mary Naomi Strong of San Bernar-dino; Mrs. Elizabeth Leigh, Mrs. Laura W.
Jensen, Mrs. Zeltha Urie Mrs. Ada Wood Webster, and George W. Wood.
