| When the U.S. Virgin Islands belonged to Denmark, various records were kept in København (Copenhagen). These records include census, probate, birth, marriage, death, burials, military records, and many others. These records were microfilmed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and can be found at any LDS Family History Center.
These records can also be found at the Regional Archives of Denmark. Write to: Landsarkivet for Sjælland m.m. Jagtvej10 DK-2200 København N Danmark Landsarkivet for Sjælland, (Archives for Sjælland) When writing, please remember that the Archives will not do research. They will give you a list of people who are willing to research. If writing from outside Denmark, also include several international reply coupons for return postage. IRCs can be purchased from the United States Post Office. |
