*Private Warren W. White served with the 44th Regiment, U.S. Colored Troops during the Civil War, and then after the Civil War he became a member of the Buffalo Soldiers. Private White's grave was recently found by great-great-great-grandson Steven Holmes in an old cemetery in Bastrop, Texas, and this past May 10, 2008 Steven along with other members of the Lt. Cmdr. Edward Lea USN Camp #2 placed U.S. Military Marker at his grave. [See the Harriet Lane Newsletter, June, 2008, Camp newsletter for more about the ceremony]
