Mr. C.L. (Criss) Kunkel, 71 years old, a life long resident and prominent citizen and retired businessman died Friday, January 3, 1969 in Bastrop Hospital.  He was a person that took a great interest in church and community affairs and will be greatly missed.  He was employed in the Kelton and Kunkel Store in McDade for many years before retiring.  His wife is the former Emma Taylor of McDade.  There will be a complete write-up in next week’s issue.

The sad news came Saturday January 4, 1969 of the death of Raymond Dunbar, 68, of Austin.  He had been sick for the past few months after suffering a heart attack.  He died at his home.  He had been out of the hospital a little over a week.  He is a brother to Mrs. Ethel Field, Mrs. Grace Huff and Mrs. Noma Atkison all of McDade and a large number of cousins and other relatives in McDade.  He was the son of the late Virgil Dunbar and Jo Anna Dungan Dunbar.  His wife is the former Ivy Shaw.  A more complete write-up will be in the next week’s issue.
