Jefferson's 58th Annual Pilgrimage
The Diamond Bessie Murder Trial Play will be presented as
part of the annual Pilgrimage for six performances:
Wednesday, April 27, Thursday, April 28, and
Friday, April 29, 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, April 30, 5:30 pm. and 8:30 p.m.
Sunday, May 1, 2:00 p.m.
Held in the
Jefferson Playhouse
Historically-based play, "Texian Woman",
the story of Harriet Potter Ames, wife of Robert Potter first secretary of the Texas Navy
during Republic of Texas days. The couple lived at Caddo Lake and had several children;
she had been married before and had one living child by that marriage; later Potter was
murdered and she married a third time and had many more children. The one-woman play is
based on her unpublished autobiography. The two-act play has been running
since its premiere in 1985 and plays most Sat nights in the Living Room Theatre in
Jefferson beginning at 8 PM.
