I am the new coordinator for Marion County TXGenWeb. My name is Connie Draper. I appreciate the efforts of all the past Coordinators. I will strive to continue in their efforts to provide more genealogical information to our patrons and of course as in TXGenWeb/USGenWeb fashion it will be FREE to all who access it. If you would like to help this site grow, please contribute any information you may have. No data is too large or small to be of value to some fellow genealogist. I welcome all contributions and ideas, so let me hear from you. Please bear with me as I settle in to my new role. |

The 1890 Federal Courthouse was styled in the 1880's fashion since the beginning of it's construction was in 1888. It was also used for the post office for many years until a newer one was built in more recent years. The old county courthouse was in the west part of town, actually almost on the edge of town. It was where the Diamond Bessie Murder Trials were held. After being abandoned as a courthouse, it was used as a public school. It burned in 1937.
