Julia Jackson Photos

Julia Jackson was born November 23, 1862 in Charlotte, North Carolina, the only child of Thomas Jonathan Jackson and Anna Morrison Jackson to live to adulthood. Julia was six months old when her father died in May 1863 from the wounds received at Chancellorsville, Virginia.  Julia married William Edmund Christian in Richmond, Virginia in 1884.  They had two children; Julia Jackson Christian (1887-1991) and Thomas Jonathan Jackson Christian (1888-1952).  Childhood illnesses left Julia frail as an adult and she died of typhoid fever at the age of 26 years, August 30, 1889.

The adoption of her name for our Chapter was in honor of the memory of the daughter of General Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson and his wife, Mary M. Jackson.  A letter was written to her mother informing her of this action, and the chapter received from Mrs. Jackson a letter in which she conveyed her deep appreciation to the officers and members for this remembrance. .

This is a collection of photos of Julia Jackson and her parents; taken from the Virginia Military Institute.
