We issue certified copies of birth, death and marriage records - we DO NOT issue plain copies!

We do not make extensive searches, but will search for any record if names and dates are supplied within a 10 year period. We do not search requests over the telephone.

Death certificates are recorded in the county where the person died, not their county of residence.

Marriage licenses are recorded in the county where the license was purchased, not where the ceremony was performed.

The "affidavit" or "delayed" birth records are ones that have been made up for persons not on the original record - who were either left off or were born prior to 1903.

Birth records are confidential records for the first 75 years after filing and death records are confidential for the first 25 years after filing. These records may only be issued to a properly qualified applicant upon submission of a written application that fully identifies the record. The applicant must present positive identification, such as a driver's license, ID card, any picture ID, etc. The reason the record is being requested and the signature of the applicant must also be on the application. For records that are in the open record period, an application and the identification of the applicant and the written request are still required. The applicant does not have to state the reason for the request.
