Edward Martin U.S.Flag Services for Edward M. Martin, 81, of Cone were held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 16, 1998, in the Ralls First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jim Morrow, pastor, officiating.

Burial followed in the Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Mr. Martin died Friday, March 13, 1998, at his home after an illness.

He was born June 25, 1916, in Cook County, TX. He married Beatrice Carr on March 11, 1939, in Thacherville, OK. He and his wife moved to Crosby County on Jan. 1, 1946, from Cook County, TX, and lived near Silver Falls where he worked for the English Ranch. In 1949, they moved to the Cone Community where he bagan farming at that time. He was a member of the Ralls First Baptist Church and the Ralls Senior Citizens. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II, where he was a Staff Sergeant and Squad Leader. he served in the European Theater and was awarded the Bronze Star.

Survivors include his wife, Bea Martin of Cone; a son, Wayne Martin of Lubbock; a daughter, Carolyn Goins of Abilene; a brother, Hugh Martin of Paris, AR; a sister, Vivian Young of Whitesboro; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
