Steam Powered Stave Mill
Indian Creek

Steam and water powered stave mills operated all over Wayne County between 1870 and 1930. These mills made the wooden blanks from which barrel staves were made. The mill pictured here was on Indian Creek near the Three Churches community in the 1920's. The names of the men and boys in the picture are unknown.
