| Hickman County News Centreville, Hickman Co., Tenn. Thurs. Dec. 11, 1924 Tragic Death Brings Heavy Sorrow Here James LOVELESS Dies Following an Accident at Work in Newport, Ark. Burial at Lobelville James LOVELESS, 40 years of age and a son of Will J. LOVELESS of Lobelville, near the Hickman-Perry county line, was fatally injured while at work in the veneering department of a furniture factory at Newport, Ark. on Wednesday of last week. In some manner unknown, the victim of an appalling tragedy fell into a vat of boiling liquid. Death came to end excruciating pain about five hours after the accident, a rescue by associates preventing instant death, although too late to save the life of the unfortunate man. The remains were prepared for burial and shipped to the former home, arriving on Friday. Funeral services and interment followed at the Lobelville cemetery, members of the Masonic order and representing various lodges being in charge of the impressive service. Deceased is survived by his parents; four brothers, William LOVELESS of Newport, Ark., and with whom he was associated in business, Herschel and Ray LOVELESS of Lobelville, and Clifford LOVELESS of Nashville; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Loveless MCMILLIN of Nashville and formerly of this place, and Mrs. Mary Loveless CHOATE, also of Nashville. Other relatives include an aunt, Mrs. W. E. EASLEY of this place. He was a member of the Methodist church, a Thirty-second degree Mason, and a highly respected citizen whose tragic death brings sorrow to the hearts of hosts of friends in this section of the state as well as in the home of his adoption. |
