RAINS, Phillip Merida b. 1850. Married Martha Jane CAMPBELL, b.1849, in Hamilton County in 1870. Listed in Hamilton County Marriage Records as RAINS, Merida P. They are my ggrandfather and grandmother. Hamilton County Mortality Index reflects a Philip M. RAINS, age 20, dying of "the fever" in 1850. They are obviously not the same individual, but I bet they are related. I also believe they are related to Mereday RAINS, one of the signers of the Cumberlan Compact in Davidson County in 1780. Does anyone have any information on these folks? David C. Rains

RAINS/RAINES- I am researching my grandfather, Phillip Merida RAINS, b. 1850-d.1932. He and my grandmother, Martha Jane CAMPBELL are on the Hamilton County Marriage Records as being married in the county on 05/01/1870. The records reflect him incorrectly as Merida P. RAINS. Also found a Phillip RAINES in the 1850 Mortality Index for Hamilton County. He was only 20 years old and died of "the fever". They are obviously not the same, but may be related. Can anybody help me with this? Can't find anything else on a Phillip RAINS in Hamilton County though I did come up with a Philip RAINES in McMinn County on the 1829 Tax List and the 1830 Census. Also, found a Phillip RAINS on the 1812 Tax list in Warren County. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

My mother was a BROOKS from RHEA COUNTY. Her mother was a WALKER from RHEA COUNTY.Her father was a BROOKS her mother a WALKER. PLEASE NOTE I have very little information on my mother's side.
My father was a HAYNES His mother was a TALLEY. She died at an early age, when my father was about 10 years old.
It was understood that three TALLEY BROTHERS came from Ireland or Scotland [I am not quite sure which country] after the turn of the century and one settled in Georgia, one in the Carolina's and one in New York.
HOPEFULLY, ONE OF MY LONG LOST RELATIVES will recognize my plight and come to my aid.
Regards, TOM HAYNES

My father was a HAYNES his mother a TALLEY. My father was born near East Ridge in Hamilton County. His father was...I believe born in the Carolina's. My grandfather's wife was a TALLEY. It could be that this particular TALLEY clan came from either Ireland or Scotland around the turn of the century. I have very little information on the TALLEY's family history. My mother was a BROOKS from Rhea County as well as her mother who was a WALKER. As far as I can tell several of my relatives still live in the Hamilton and Rhea County area. I am not quite sure of the results of this query but I would love to learn more about my family's background. . I do know that my forefathers fought in the Civil War ...I have pictures with no history. If you want to comment, please call me @ 713-460-8160 or you may E-mail at bohica@swbell.net

Looking for relatives and parents of Henry BRADEN. He was on the 1830 Census of Hamilton County. Entered land around Walden's Ridge, left with family about 1835. There were some Braden's in Marion County around this time. Please help
