My grandmother, Caroline Lee OLIVER was born July 26, 1902 in Hamilton County. She was the daughter of John Henry OLIVER and Sallie (WISE) OLIVER. Caroline's siblings included Fred & John Oliver, and sisters: Geneva, Minnie Mae, & Glenna Oliver Boger.
Caroline married my grandfather, John Boyd ANDERSON, the son of Samuel ANDERSON and Ollie Doyle ANDERSON. Many of this family grew up around or in Whiteside, TN. John and Caroline's children included John B. jr., Richard, Freddie Joe, Billy Gene, James, Pauline, and Mildred Anderson Abbott. Any information you have on the family would be so appreciated.

I am looking for information on my ggrandfather's parents. My ggrdfather's name was Oscar FRIZZELL. I found him and his family listed on the 1880 Hamilton County census ad follows: Nathan 30, Rebecca J. 30, William R. 9, Benjamin F. 11, Mary A. 6, Margaret E. 4, and Osten L. 1. I was always told that Oscar went by "Oss", I guess that would be short for Osten, so I'm not sure where Oscar came in.. I received Oscar's death certificate in the mail, and it says that he was born February 26th, 1878 in Tn, and he died July 28th, 1936 in Soddy Daisy Tn, Hamilton County. His wife was May Kaylor, and his parents were Nathan and Rebecca J. (WILSON) FRIZZELL, both being born in Tn. It gives his occupation as a Kiln Fireman. Trying to trace a John Lewis MILLER who married Hilda Halton or Carry in Glasgow Scotland in 1951. John lists his address at that time as 412 Vine Street,Chattanooga,Tennessee,USA. His occupation is stated as a ships cook. John and Hilda, I have been told, both travelled to America soon after the marriage. Johns parents who were both deceased at the time of the marriage, are listed as Charles Buster MILLER and Anna Pearl MILLER m.s.Evans.does anybody know of these people?

Looking for information on John EVANS and Lillie RELFORD EVANS. They had four children in the early 1930's. Artie Mae, John Henry, Wanda Louise, and Mack. There is a possiblity they may have lived in Jackson Co., AL for a while. Lillie is from Hamilton Co., but do not know where John was from. John was supposed to have died in 1937. Lillie died in 1989, and is buried in TN/GA Memorial Park, near Hamilton Co. Louise was my husband's mother and she died in her early twenties in 1958. My maternal grandmother's name was Mary Ethel POSEY. Her father was(I think) John POSEY, who lived and died on a mountain outside of Soddy-Daisy. He passed away in the 1950's. His last wife (he had several) was named Molly. My grandmother married Charles HALEY of South Pittsburg, TN, and later moved to the Alton Park section of Chattanooga. She passed away in the 1960's in Walker County, Georgia, and was buried in Jasper, TN.

I am searching for any cousins from one these two YEAROUT Great Uncles. One is Lemuel YEAROUT who was born 1865. Uncle Lem married Maggie NORRIS 1898. He resided in Chattannoga for a period of time and worked as a bellhop at a local hotel. His daughter, Edna died in Chattanooga during the early 1900's. He had several other children.
The other Great Uncle was Calvin YEAROUT who was born between 1865 and 1876. He married Mary PENDERGRAFF (?) and is listed as an ironworker in Knoxville, but he did relocate to Chattanooga for a period of time. I was told that he once fell from a scaffold in a fall of about 40 feet, but grabbed hold of something which broke his fall and saved his life. I think this may have happened in Chattanooga, but not sure.
Recently I did have a streak of great luck in locating the family of the third missing Great Uncle, the family still resided in Hamilton County. This was William YEAROUT who married Minnie LANE. There were 7 children in this family which went under two different surnames. I have located cousins from 5 of them. The other surname was STINNETT, which has made my work extremely hard. I do have complete info on the 5 if anyone wants to share information.

Elisha CORBETT b.1795 d. 1850 was married to Mary GANN b. 1800 & d. 1892. They were my gg grandparents who were m in 1817 in Rhea Co. Tn. They lived in Harrison, Hamilton Co. Tn. where he died before the 1850 census when she was listed as the head of the house.She at that time went to so. On April 30, 1931 Nora Jean MASON was born to Virgie Mae (BARNETTE) MASON. Virgie was 17 years of age at the time and had been born in Birmingham Alabama. She was married we believe just prior to this childs birth to Earl or Earle MASON who was from Atlanta Georgia and was 25 years of age. Nora Jean MASON was put in the Vine Street Orphanage on June 11, 1931 and removed on Feb 16, 1933. We are desperately trying to find information on Nora Jean's parents, perhaps a marriage certificate in Chattanooga. Nora was born at Erlanger Hospital. I have been told that I have a relative named Lawson H. LEMMONS buried in "National Cemetary - near Lookout Mountain - Chattanooga, TN". I'm still looking for information about Academy Hospital, which operated in the Masonic Academy in Chattanooga during the Civil War. In particular, I'm trying to find what happened to the records of the hospital. The hospital was taken over by the Union at some point, and they continued to operate it as a hospital. A photo exists of the hospital during Union occupation, with Union ambulance wagons shown in the foreground. Marcus LOWE (41st Alabama Infantry of the Kentucky Orphan Brigade) died there in January 1865, and he is one of the unknown soldiers buried in the Confederate Cemetery in Chattanooga. I'm hoping to determine if he died of wounds received at the Battle of Murfreesboro, or from exposure, or both. I'd also like to find out where the hospital was located. Looking for information on Ozias GREER, shown on 1840 Hamilton census as Ozion GREER (not GREEN), and he was also on 1830 Bledsoe census, but listed incorrectly as Hosias GREER. TN Land grant #4834 for Ozias GREER, May 14. 1832 issued Bledsoe county..200 acres on Walden's Ridge on waters of Polebridge Creek at Ragsdale turnpike. Later bought land on Waldens Ridge, on waters of Sale Creek. He was listed on 1840 Hamilton census between David GAMBLE and Gilbert DEARING.
Also, looking for information on 1850 Hamilton county census for John GREAR (not GNEAR)..age 43 (born 1807),born SC; wife Martha, children Nancy, Isaah, William, Matilda, Mary, James, John, Martha. Names of children very similiar to those of Isiah Stephen GGREER of Bledsoe county, also born 1813 in SC. Looking for possible connection between John GREAR and Isiah GREER. (Note:early records spell it Isah GREER).
Have also found a Hamilton county deed dated 1843 which mentions a Millberry GREER.

My greatgrandmother Lenora lived on Bedford Street and her daughter Ann lived across the street. In 1937 my grandmother lived for a time with Ann. Thelma lived with my greatgrandmother until she died.
There was a large write up on Lenora about her living to 100 years old. She had served coal miners meals until she was 93. I have Lenora's death certificate but sure would love to know her husband(PURVIS) first name. Also if she had any other children. I have not located her grave online, it is located in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
My grandfather Russell Mynatt COX married Laura Louise MIXON. I do not have the location of their marriage as of yet.Russell comes from the line of COX's that located in Blount, Knox, Anderson, Jefferson counties, TN. The person everyone is stuck on is Henry COX who married Ann MADISON 1773 Charlotte Co., VA. Henry first located in Jefferson Co., TN in 1790's.

Martha Jane SHUBIRDs father was Jesse SHUBIRD born 1822 in S.C. per then 1850 census of Cherokee Co. Ga. her mother was Elizabeth ELROD born 1820. S.C. daughter of William ELROD living next door to them in the 1850 census of Cherokee Co. Ga. Alberry and Martha Jane BICE moved to St. Elmo, Hamilton Co. Tenn. by the 1860 census.

I am looking for information on my ancestors from Hamilton Co. Tenn. They lived in the town of Hixon. My grandfather Thomas Jefferson ROGERS son of Edley and Mahala ROGERS married Nancy Ellen (some say Ellendore) MILLER. They were married in 1837/8 in Chattanoga Tenn. He had a brother John B. ROGERS which stayed in Tenn after the family moved to Ark. Edley had a brother John Henry ROGERS who married a Mahala Maria she died in Dec.1853 he died in the civil war in 1863 in Mo. Their fathers name was Joseph Jefferson ROGERS and we think the mother was a Susana SHUE...I have the decendants of the two men but nothing else. Edley and John had two sisters Lucinda and Louisa.They also stayed in Tenn. I think. Any one wanting the decendants of Edley or John I can give them i need the ancestors beyond Joseph..Indian blood is involved altho the family was denied. One of Edleys sons said that Joseph was on the Rolls in Georgia.He may have been married before Susana as there is rumor of others in the family I would appreciate any and all information...
