Bedford County - Obituaries (New Additions - See Below!)
The Pioneer Historical Society Research Department will perform a obituary search in the following newspapers: The Bedford Inquirer The Bedford Gazette The Everett Press All three newspapers can be searched for the years 1900 to the present, but the Everett Press may have some missing dates prior to 1936 which was the year of the flood that damaged some of the newspaper records in Everett. We also have the Necrolgy extractions from the Bedford Gazette from 1887 through 1914. Search Requirements: Please submit an accurate date for the search. Typically the obituary will run within several days after the death. The date you supply will need to be accurate since we can only search through a limited number of newspaper editions. The results will vary depending on the date supplied. We would like to point out that very few obituaries have much genealogical information until about the year 1910, and also there is no guarantee that an obituary was filed in every instance. At times there are none to be found. In addition, the extensive obituary records from the collection of Jennie Chamberlain Leach are being made available for further searches. Jennie's Books
For the sum of $5.00 and a self addressed, stamped envelope, the Research Department will search and copy the obituary that you requested.
