Eugene H. Junkin 

Eugene H. Junkin was the Coach at Fredonia Vocational School in 1924.  He graduated from Park Academy in 1912 and from Wooster College in 1916.  He served in the army during World War I in 1917-1919.

Eugene Harold Junkin, Sr. was born in Burchard, Nebraska on March 03, 1893. He was the oldest of four children ( Eugene Harold, Helen Marie, Florence Louise, and Clarence David) born to Rev. Clarence Mateer Junkin and Ella Mae Jolley. Clarence Mateer Junkin was born in Mount Jackson, Lawrence Co., Pa. Ella Mae Jolley was born in Harlem Springs, Carroll Co., Ohio. Eugene's paternal grandparent's were  Bingham Findley Junkin and Mary Samantha Duff. Both are buried in Woodland Cemetery in Grove City, Pa.  Part of Bingham's Civil War diary is found on the Mercer County website. His paternal line then continues back through Benjamin Junkin and Joseph Junkin II.  Both of these grandparents lived in the Lawrence Co. and Mercer Co. area.
In 1922, Eugene married Effie Lee Gentry of Prentiss, Kentucky. She also taught for awhile in Mercer Co. In 1923, a son, Eugene H. Junkin, Jr. was born in Fredonia, Pa.
He died  in 1945 in WWII . In 1924, a daughter, Ella Randolph was born in Prentiss, Ky.
She is still living.

By 1930, they were living just outside of Big Prairie, Ohio on a 30 acre farm.  Eugene was the principal at Big Prairie High School and taught Math. He was also the boys and girls basketball coach. He later transferred to nearby Shreve High School and taught  until the early 40's. After that he farmed and worked at the Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station until he had to retire at age 70. Then he worked for about 10 years at a nearby greenhouse. In 1985 he went into a rest home. In 1987, he sold the farm he had bought in 1930.

Eugene passed away on July 04, 1989 at the age of 96 years. He is buried beside his wife, Effie Lee, who passed away in 1965. They are buried at Oak Grove Cemetery, Clinton Twp, Wayne Co., Ohio near Shreve, Ohio
