A county in central Oklahoma, identical to Oklahoma County, Oklahoma Territory.  
The name is a projection of the name of the principal community and city of the county, 
first known as Oklahoma Station, a stop on the Santa Fe Railway that later became Oklahoma City.

  • On July 8, 2005, I suffered a stroke, on my left side. I an still recovering and want all to know how much I appreciate the many cards, prayers and e-mails received. They have surely been working!!

Gov. Henry Announces Design of State Commemorative Quarter April 30, 2007
 

Winning Oklahoma Quarter design - scissor-tailed flycatcher and the Gaillardia pulchella plant

Oklahoma City -- As the result of a statewide vote, Gov. Brad Henry announced today that Oklahoma's commemorative quarter will feature the state bird and state wildflower: the scissor-tailed flycatcher and the Indian blanket (Gaillardia pulchella).

More than 148,000 votes were cast in selecting the design..., part of a special series launched by the U.S. Mint in 1999.

The state quarter series began in 1999 and the Oklahoma quarter will be issued early next year [2008].


Ceil's Corner - centered on present-day Luther, OK. 
Featuring families living in northeastern Oklahoma Co., southeastern Logan Co. and western Lincoln Co. when this was still part of Oklahoma Territory.
