Betty Barnett's Garvin County Cemeteries

This is a photo of Betty hard at work in Foster Cemetery
It was taken by Diane Gann
Betty is acting President of the Garvin County Cemetery Association.  She is currently involved
in mapping and canvassing our Garvin County cemeteries.   With the Garvin County Cemetery Association
she hopes to recruit members and raise funds and get volunteers to help take care of our neglected pioneer cemeteries.
Please consider helping Betty in this worthy endeavor, by joining the Garvin County Cemetery Association or contributing
money, time, or fund raising ideas.  Please send donations to Rt. 2, Box 75-A,  Pauls Valley, OK  73075.
An account has been opened at the Pauls Valley National Bank.  You can reach Betty via email at tjbty@aol.com

Anyone with relatives buried in Garvin County's small Pioneer cemeteries
should be aware that there are currently no laws to protect these cemeteries from destruction by the landowner.
If you are concerned about this and the welfare of these cemeteries, please write, email or call

District 22
Hilliard, Wes
Telephone:  (405) 557-7412
Room:  320

or

Billy, Lisa J.

Room:  329-B
Email:  lisajbilly@okhouse.gov

Please ask them to push forward laws to protect our cemeteries.  Oklahoma has already lost many to destruction by landowners.  Let's not loose anymore.

If you are looking for an inexpensive stone for your ancestor Cline Monuments in Purcell, Hwy 74, 580-527-5387, has small ones for under $100.00.  He will set them for an additional $50.00 but you can set them yourself for under $15.00 for concrete for a base and it is easy to do according to Betty, we would even be happy to help you with setting them if you want to mark an unmarked grave in Garvin County.
