This workshop is aimed at the beginner genealogist from age 9 to 99. It will cover the beginning aspects of genealogical and family history research. Participants will be instructed in ways to organize the material you already have and how to find sources for more information. This is a hands-on workshop where you will learn to record family data on basic forms. Participants will also learn about and be able to search through online sources during the afternoon computer lab session. Each participant should bring information (names, birthdates, death dates, and locations) of the family they are researching. Whomever you are starting your research with, please bring enough information, starting with your own information and working back in time. No prior genealogical or computer experience is needed for this workshop. Kids working on a genealogy project for 4-H and Scouts looking to earn a badge in genealogy must be at least 9 years old in order to attend this workshop. 4-H members may purchase the Family History Treasure book at the workshop if it is ordered through the registration form. This book is not required. A Scout counselor will be available to sign off on merit badge requirement Delicious bag lunches will be provided by Bread and Brew of Wellington. The cost is $5.00 and includes a sandwich, chips and a cookie. The Wellington Genealogy Group will provide bottled water. Pop machines are available. There are many local restaurants also available. Workshop fee is $5.00 per person. Preregistration by May 15th is required as there is limited seating.
