In baseball played with Kipton Wakeman Redcaps and Ehrhard teams in Kipton won tri county championship played shortstop for Kipton batted 3rd or 4th for all baseball teams.
Wakeman Red Caps played first base, second base and outfield played against the best traveling teams in the country Ethiopian Clowns, Homestead Greys, Pittsburgh Crawfords. Had an offer to play the state league at Fremont, the Cleveland Indians baseball school and Syracuse had contacted me, knowing that I had throwing sore arm at that time could not make the team.
Entered the service of August 1943 played baseball for the division team and sent to Italy and played on a depot team and played against a team that Lou Brissie pitched three innings. I was fortunate to get a hit off of him.
After the war played on a division team in Italy made the allstar team.
