"Shoeless" Stewart

Stewart is one of the star performers on the Colored House of David team which meets the Wakeman Red Caps under the lights at Wakeman Park Saturday night. Stewart cavorts at shortstop.

All of the House of David club members sport flowing beards, and insert comedy into their play. They make a pretty good ball club, though, as their record of more than 100 victories this season attests. (8-18-38)

Wakeman – The Wakeman Redcaps couldn’t keep up the pace they started out on Saturday and had to be content with a split in a pair of week-end games. Saturday night they blasted the Colored House of David team, 19-7, and Sunday dropped a close one, 5-4, to the Akron Sacred Hearts.

Wakeman Red Caps

Lose To Akron

__

Wakeman, O., Aug.22. - Chuck Bement, Wakeman Red Caps right-hander, struck out sixteen bats-men, but Akron edged out a 5 to 4 victory over the Caps here last night. Inability to get hits when hits meant runs cost Wakeman the game.

Bement gave the Akronites only six hits in out-pitching Mileski, who allowed eight bingles.

Saturday night, the Colored House of David nine proved to be a soft touch for the Red Caps. With Art Thomas hurling eight-hit ball, the Caps trounced the Davids, 19 to 7. Thomas struck out fourteen batsmen.

It was a good game for four innings, but once the Caps started teeing off on the deliveries of Saylor, there was nothing to it.
