OUR GOOD NEIGHBORS TO THE SOUTHWEST

The little village of Kipton west of this place has had an interesting history. Not one of intense excitement, but a story of American country life, full of the hardships of pioneer days; with its patriotic response to the call of President Lincoln; with its efforts to create a wholesome atmsophere for the sons and daughters who have carried on throughout the century. Those who dwell throughout the township are a kindly people. Many of them are direct descendants of the first settlers and some of them live on the same farms that their ancestors cleared and made suitable for raising crops.

Old things give way to the new. It is our method of growth and development. While customs change and scientific development has made a vast difference in our mode of living, we should not forget the old ideals or fail to grasp the spirit of adventure and the love of creating homes in the wilderness which the forefathers possessed. We should be alive to the deep sense of gratitude which we owe for our present stations in life.

Camden people are of good stock. They are real friends and kindly neighbors. They are a representative group of Americans which are disappearing in some sections, but who are an integral part of real American life. The Oberlin Times has a number of good friends in Kipton and Camden township and can heartily recommend them to everyone. They are real folks, and Oberlin people can desire nothing better than closer association and friendlier relationships with them. Go out and meet them socially and in a business way. You will find a fine class of people worthy of your friendship and co-operation.
