The first sermon to be heard in Camden township was preached by Elder Call in the school house, some time in 1833. In the following year services were held in the school house by Reverend Zenophen Bates, the Congregational minister in Wakeman.
In the winter of 1936-37 a Methodist class was formed in the northern part of the township, but no building was erected until 1879 in Kipton. At the time the church was constructed in that year, it was called the Union Church, a combination of Methodist and Baptist denominations. The Methodists had charge of the services one Sunday and the Baptists on the following Sunday. The first Methodist preacher was Reverend Dawson; the first Baptist preacher, Reverend Damon.
In 1924, because of the small attendance, the Christian Church in Kipton combined with the Union Church and it was called the Kipton Community Church. The Reverend Clifford consolidated the two organizations, and he was followed by Reverend Philip E. Harding in ministry of the Community Church. Until recently the Rev. William Winger has been occupying the pulpit. Being graduated from the Oberlin School of Theology in May he resigned his pulpit at the time. The church has been built up until at the present time has a membership of 156.
