Birmingham Metal Products
The Birmingham Metal Products Inc. was founded in 1952 by Milford Harrison and is located on Route 113 east of Florence Corners. It is the second industry founded by sons of the late George Harrison of Birmingham. Marion founded the M. A. Harrison manufacturing Company. Milford’s plant has specialized in aircraft bearings that require precision machining with close tolerances. The company has no foundry.
The Harrison Motor designed and manufactured by Miford is an outboard motor used in boat racing, capable of speeds up to 85 miles per hour. Using this motor, Kay, a son of Milford, broke the world record for speed in outboard racing in 1963. He is vice president of the company.
