"In his death record in Warren County Deaths,
Book 2 1881-1904, it lists his parents as James and Annie Smith Carey.
This would be logical since he is buried in the same plot with his mother
Ann Carey and his 2 children Cora Jane and Mabel S. (Infant). I have sent
for his death certificate as he died in the Spanish American War in 1898.
I am hoping it will list parents on the certificate. "

- Franklin [Ohio] Chronicle, May 9, 1963 Obituary says in part,
"Mr. Collier was a Spanish-American War veteran,
and was believed to be the last survivor of that war living in the Franklin
area. Her served in the Phillipine Islands during the 1903 insurrection.
Mr. Collier was a member of the United Spanish-American War Veterans,
Camp No. 58 of Middletown."
