Ohio War of 1812 Soldiers’ Family Groups is the culmination of more
than twenty years
of effort by many ladies of the Ohio Society United States
Daughters of 1812. It contains family group
sheets for nearly 1250 War of 1812 soldiers,
representing 8157 families and just under 19,000 individuals,
to document this
often-overlooked period in our country’s history. It was
originally entered into
a computer genealogy program and later
condensed into paragraph form for publication.
Information was
submitted by members and non-members across
the United States who wanted the family information on their
1812 soldier ancestor preserved.
A typical
entry would include: name of soldier, 1812 service and burial information,
Spouses, parents of each, children of each marriage and spouses
with
birth and death dates, name and address of submitter.
This book is published as a tribute to honor the bravery and sacrifice
of our Ohio War of 1812
ancestors in helping to build this nation.
It does NOT include EVERY Ohio soldier who served in the War of 1812.
