RESEARCH POLICY The Marion Area Genealogy Society (MAGS) is a 100% volunteer group of individuals who have a common interest in genealogy. As such, their time available for research is somewhat limited. When sending queries, please include as much information as possible for the person that you are researching. The correct names, dates and location are very important to any search. Sometimes, when possible, a five generation chart would be helpful. There is a limit of three (3) surnames. Copies are 15 cents for Xerox copies and 10 cents for microfilm copies. Copies obtained from the courthouse such as deeds, wills, etc. cost from twenty-five cents (.25) to three dollars ($3.00) depending upon what courthouse office provides the copy. Certified copies of birth and death records form 1908 to present are fifteen ($15) each. There are no non-certified copies from Health Departments in Ohio available. Members of the Society - Research is free except for the price of copies. Non-members - There is a $10 fee plus the price of copies. Basic research is conducted in the local library.
