This website URL was used by the USGenWeb OHGenWeb project on and off for the past twelve years. Rootswebs server was the host of this non profit project. We are very thankful to Rootsweb server owners for this and greatly appreciate them.

The Rootsweb server and Rootsweb projects were sold to an investment group. This group has imposed some regulations and not being able to come to agreement, the USGenWeb Project and many websites, that were previously on Rootsweb servers, have moved to other private servers.

The OHGenWeb project is one of the states in the USGenWeb project that has also moved to its own server. This does not change the premise of the OHGenWeb Project being free to researchers and change the goal of protecting the contributed information to be accessed freely.

The company that owns Rootsweb.com and Ancestry.com has offered to continue the service of providing free webspace for genealogy projects and will place banners on these sites which when clicked on will interface with these projects. This webpage will be displaying one of those banners.

Rootsweb.com is still a huge free resource to genealogical researchers with its many databases and links to websites it hosts. Ancestry.com is a commercial genealogy research website and charges for access to its many wonderful genealogical databases which can also be accessed in local public libraries which have subscriptions.
