Fayette
County was formed in 1810 from sections of Highland
and Ross
Counties.
The
county is named for the French General Lafayette.
The Fayette County Seat is in the City of Washington Court House.
Seven counties border Fayette County:
Clinton, Greene, Highland, Madison, Pickaway, and Ross.
