This beautiful old Cemetery is located on East 118th Street, was first visited in 1999 while researching my family history. For the most part, the Cemetery is inactive, there are very few new burials. The Cemetery is open daily from 8:00 AM to approximately 4:00 PM. A transcription project was completed by the Western Reserve Historical Society in 1933 and is available for your review in manuscript typewritten format at its Cleveland, Ohio location. This earlier transcription project was used to assist in identification of many of the current headstones. Digital photographs were taken of each of the headstones to memorialize the marker and to assist in the preservation of the existence of our ancestors. East Cleveland Cemetery Burial records are completed. All the burial cards have been scanned and the information contained on the records are available through this link. Special thanks go to Ross, Valerie, Robert and the rest of the Service Department Staff at the City of East Cleveland for opening their place of business and allowing this project to be completed. Maps of East Cleveland Township Cemetery The following link will take you to a short story about life in the City of East Cleveland written in 1896 and published on another Rootsweb site: eastclev.htm During the summer of 2002 a group of women got together to update the transcription projects started by the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in the 1920's and 1930's. The DAR hand typed manuscripts of the engravings on the headstones in the cemeteries owned by City of Cleveland cemeteries. Those early manuscripts were utilized for this project and helped to identify many of the headstones remaining in these cemeteries. Digital photographs were taken of each of the headstones to memorialize the marker and to assist in the preservation existence of our ancestors.
